Philip Durham, pastor of the First Bus Gets Stuck In Street Hole Hits 'Boil' Being Repaired By City Street boHs, a headache to motorists and the city street department, was blamed Saturday afternoon, for a West Graham Avenue Transit bus being stuck for about half hour at Sixteenth Ave. and High St. The right front wheel of the bus sank a foot into a mixture of dirt, loose asphalt and crushed rock that had been used in a temporary street repair job.

Charles Smith of 828 Avenue bus driver, had to summon a heavy wrecker to pull the bus free. The seven passengers he was hauling at the time all got off and walked to their homes. All said they did not have far to go. City Had Started Repairs 'I started to "go around the mess but a car came around the corner and forced me into it Smith said. "The next thing I knew I was sunk down in it." Residents of the area said the city crews had removed the street bricks from the series of boils, smoothing them to street level and blocked the area off Friday.

On Saturday, dirt, then loose topped with crushed rock was placed on the street and the barricades were removed. The mixture covered an area about 36 feet long and half the width of the street. Soeth New Man Joins Iowa ASC Group Max M. Soeth of Estherville has assumed his duties as a member of the three-man Iowa state ASC committee. He replaces Edmund J. Gibbs of Bellevue. Soth's appointment was announced by Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Benson.

The new committeeman owns and operates a 160 acre grain and livestock farm in Emmet County and has long been active in farm organizations and community affairs there. He is a member of the American Legion, the Farm Bureau and Presbyterian Church. Soeth was republican representative From Emmet County in the 54th and 55th Iowa assemblies in 1951 and 1953. He is married and has two daughters and a son. The other two members of the state committee are Dwight W.
