s. KODEL SHAG CARPETING for purposes of identification." The piece which will remain, on the Ogden Mall, is called the "Loyola piece" because it was first shown at Loyola university. The first piece, which had to be removed, was called "Plaza One." The sculpture was placed at the site with the permission of Lewis Hill, commissioner of the department of development and planning, and of D. U. R.

Permission was granted at the request of the Lincoln Park Conservation association L. P. C. A.l, said II. Patrick 1 L.

P. C. A. executive director. Asks for More "We have supported the idea of sculpture in public places for a long time.

When we knew John Henry might have a piece available for us, we asked Mr. Hill's permission to place it on some vacant D. U. R. land here," Feely said.

Pictures on page 3 Two pieces of aluminum sculpture were brought to the Lincoln Park area last week as an experiement in bringing sculpture to vacant lots in Chicago's neighborhoods. One of them is no longer there. A group of youths managed to tip over the 2,000 pound piece and put a dent in it, so the artist came and hauled it away. The sculptor, John Henry, 2210 N. Halsted replaced it, the same day, with another aluminum piece much thicker and heavier which will be sitting on a vacant piece of Department of Urban Renewal property D.

U. R. at the corner of Armitage avenue and Clark street for the next six weeks. Henry says his pieces are "basically untitled, but I call them by the name of the place where they were first exhibited In the telegram to Hill, the L. P.

C. A. added, "We support the concept of placing art in public areas in the Lincoln Park community on a rotating basis. We would further recommend the establishment of an arts committee to encourage local artists to exhibit in public areas in the future." Henry's piece became available last week when he was removing an exhibition of his sculpture from the University of Chicago and transporting it to Ravinia Park, Highland Park, where it will be all summer. "They didn't want all of the pieces, and I offered one to the Lincoln Park community," he said.

Henry said he has long been interested in seeing the city set up a program of exhibiting large pieces of sculpture in public places. "The public has to be involved in an artistic experience, if they are ever 20 luxurious colors including tweeds and solids. REGULAR $8.95 6.88 Squore Yard going to think about art. Even if they don't like the pieces, they're opening their eyes and having a reaction that's better than never reacting to art at all," he said. Feely said there has been a lot of reaction to both pieces of sculpture since they were brought into Lincoln Park.

It makes people stop and chat with each other, he said. "John Henry has got an awful lot of guts, after all the hours of work he put into that piece, to replace it," Feely said. "But people really missed it after it was gone they were calling our office all evening to find out what happened." Feely would like to see sculpture placed in other sites around the Lincoln Park area, such as on several open spaces along the Ogden Mall which runs from Clark street to North avenue. He suggested the lot at Wisconsin and Orleans streets, at Menomonee street and Hudson avenue, at St. Michael's court on the corner of Cleveland avenue and Eugenie street, and in the triangular area at Belden avenue and Clark street.

"What we need is more citizen participation to keep an eye on these pieces so vandals won't be able to damage them," Feely said. 100 ALL WOOL regular 9.88 PLUSH PILE CARPETING Absolute elegance in 12 colors! Performed at Northwestern While a student at Northwestern, where she earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music, Miss Golembo frequently performed in operas and sang with the university hony. She was one of only three seniors to become a member in Pi Kappa Lamda, music honor society. After raduating, Miss Golembo taught music as a substitute teacher in Chicago high schools.

In her free time she did "jobbing," or "free lance singing around town." When La Mancha came to Chicago a year and a half ago, "I answered a call for replacements for singers who were leaving the show," Miss Golembo said. She played the part of an inmate of the Inquisition prison. Frustrated When Not Singing "Sometimes it seemed frustrating, not to be singing, but I loved being with the show so much I stuck it out," she said. When the girl who played the belly-dancer in the musical left, she asked for the part and with a little coaching, took over the role. She also studied several other parts as an understudy.

"Every part has several understudies. It's a well covered show," Miss Golembo said. 4 MEXICAN HAND CARVED PICTURE FRAMES WALL MIRRORS AND DOOR FRAMES FRAMED with cut and set, from $900 MTrairFV CHARGE ITI KjNrgS Midwest Bank Cards SHOP lARtfl Heather Golembo MORTON CROVI GLASS MIRROR CO. 9250 Waukegan Read (4 bltcki North of Otmpiltr) MavtAn Cava. To Be Married She is about to make another change. Miss Golembo will leave the show when her contract expires Oct. 28, and marry Allen Lipscher, a systems engineer from Boston, in November. "It may be the end of the show, for me, but it won't be the end of my musical career," Miss Golembo said.

"There are exciting opportunities in se: professional opera, in the Boston area, that I'd like to get involved with." Her interest in serious music has never wavered, even while she was on tour with the show. "I always find myself a music teacher in every city we play for a few weeks," she said. "I'm taking voice and dance lessons now while we're in Chicago," Miss Golembo said. "It's essential for an entertainer to do that, or you get flabby. You can't be objective about your own work, and yea always have to set standards just a little beyond your reach so you're always stretching."
