Moran James J. Moran of 3817 N. Kenmore avenue, beloved husband of the late BY HARRY R. SHANDELSON Downtown District Manager, Social Security Administration 1965: By The Chicago Tribune Several weeks ago, I received a medical in- surance application from the social security administration. The application gave me a choice of signing or not.

I still have not returned the application. Before I make up my mind, I would like to know what other older persons have decided. How many have signed up and how many have not? A. Between Sept. 1 and Oct.

15, we mailed punch card applications to 15.2 million persons then on social security or railroad retirement rolls. As of now, we have had returns from 9 million of this group, and 9 out of 10 of them have said that they wish to come under Medicare's voluntary medical insurance program. Most of these persons will have $3 deducted each month from their benefit checks beginning July, 1966. We suggest that you do not delay too long in making your decision, for there will be a penalty for failing to file on time. If you want more information on medical insurance, the employes of your local social security office will be glad to answer your questions.

In addition to regular hours, most social security offices will be open one evening each week and also Saturday mornings for the convenience of the public. If you intend to come in one evening or on a Saturday, we suggest that you call your office to be sure of the exact hours it will remain open. What is your social security problem? Address your question to Social Security, The Chicago Tribune, 435 N. Michigan Chicago, 60611. Your question will be answered in this column or by your local social sectxrify office.

To insure a reply, include your full name and address. They formerly infested the plains in great numbers from northern Mexico to Canada and the western slope of the Rocky mountains. They acquired their name from their barking voice. Since they lived underground in large colonies and threw up craters of earth at the surface of their burrows, and lived on grass, they destroyed large areas of grazing land. For economic reasons ways have been found to keep them in check, and in some areas, they have been virtually exterminated. 5.
