Glendire, Mont, Nov. 1. Thomas Wilson, residing on a ranch two miles Aorth of this city, was shot and instantly killed at 8: 30 Wednesday morning by Andrew Brown, a neighbor. The shooting resulted from a quarrel between the two men over the cutting of timber. Prayed for Greater Ktw York.

News by Telegraph from Various Towns in Indiana. Oil Companies Will Indianapolis, Nov. 11. The conference between the state officers and representatives from the natural gas belt to take steps to prevent the waste of gas in sinking oil wells developed the fact that the oil companies will fight the law on the ground that the gas, being under the earth and belonging to them under the terms of their leases or purchases, is not subject to legislative control any more than corn or other grain that they might raise on the land and permit to go to waste if they did not care to husband it. After considering the entire situation it was decided to puh the pending case against one oil company and if the supreme courteus tains the law, to proceed against all other delinquents.

A Row Likely. Laporte, Nov. 1. The last legislature passed a law extending the terms of county treasurers to January 1. The term originally expired November 15.

The present incumbents were made ineligible for appointment, making it necessary for boards of county commissioners to fill the vacancies. F. C. Mann, of this city, treasurer elect, has filed his The commissioners have chosen H. F.

Zharn to serve from November 15 to January 1. Mann will demand possession of the office, which will be denied, and action will at once be begun in the courts to test the con stitutionality of the law. The case will be carried to the supreme court, where a decision will be rendered wmcn will affect the status of claims to possession of the treasurer's office in every county In Indiana. A Happy Reunion. Portland, Nov.

11. After a separation of half a century, during which brothers and mourned each other as dead, a reunion took place here whioh reunited Iter. David S. Arnold, of Caro, Mrs. Ellen Keene, of Sparta, Mrs.

Elizabeth Bale, of Bryan, and Mrs. Amanda Tucker, of Portland, after 50 years of unbroken silence. The mother died during the infancy of the children. The family became scattered, finally all trace was lost, and one mourned the other as dead, until recently, when the children, all of whom were surviving, began a search which resulted in the happy reunion at Charg ed with Bribery Elkhart, Nov. 11.

County Commissioner Charles Wally and Edward W. Kennison, of this county, have been indicted for bribery and larceny from the county. Ex County Treasurer W. H. Uoldeman accuses them of taking a bribe from him in order to get them to allow a bill which he presented to them against the county.

The indictment is for taking money belonging to the county. This affair is the outgrowth of the alleged defalcation of Holdeman as treasurer, he being compelled to relinquish his office on account of inability to secure bondsmen, his former bondsmen having withdrawn. Did Not Furnish the Knife. Laporte, Nov. 11.

With tears streamingjlown her cheeks Mrs. Pink erton, wife of the murderer and suicide, appeared before Coroner Long and pleaded she did not give her husband the knife with which he added seli mur der to the crime of which he had al ready been adjudged guilty. The cor oner is unable to fasten the responsibility for Pinkerton's possession of the knife, and the mystery Will probably never be revealed. Joined In Wedlock. Wabash.

Elkhart, Nov. 11. James Mather, a wealthy young resident of this city, and formerly in business, was arrested Tuesday, and an ex amination made as to his sanity. lie was decided to be of unsound mind and will be taken to an asylum. He had be' come dangerously ill, and had a mania for buying all kinds of horses.

Flrearma Stolen. Elkhart, Nov. 11. Pounder's gun store in this city was entered by burglars and a large quantity of firearms and cutlery taken. One of the proprietors was sleeping in the store, but one of the robbers stood over him with a soldering iron until the robbery was accomplished.

Died Poor. Valparaiso, Nov. 11. Orson Wheeler, aged 83 years, at one time one of the most prosperous fanners in this county, died in the poorhouse, where he had been an Inmate several years. Said to Be Conaterfeltera.
