3,637 of the gambling devices valued at one million dollars had been seized. Nine arrests today raised to 44 the total number of Kentuckians nabbed in the continuing anti gambling drive launched yesterday. FBI agents, assisted by local officers, directed their day-long activity against machines in cafes, roadhouse. and clubs. As the FBI shifted its attention to public and private clubs, Special Agent John F.

Malone, in charge here, said the clubs themselves often were innocent of any federal violation. Owners, operators and repairmen handling the gambling machines are the target, he explained. Malone said Kentucky's yield is the highest raids so far under the federal law. It bans interstate shipment of gambling machines and requires their operators and repairmen to register with the government. Most of those arrested In Kentucky were charged with failure to register as operators or repairmen.

They were released on bond after appearances before United States commissioners. The Louisville FBI office listed these men arrested today either as unregistered dealers or unregistered repairmen, all being released on bond: Owensboro area John Peter Bailey of Sebree, doing business as the Bailey Record Co. at Henderson: Laz Puckett of Henderson, and L. Dick 'Anders fouled Bob Pardue as the overtime period opened and Bob Pardue scored two free Purcell immediately put the 'Breds into a 99-97 lead with two more jump shots.

Daniel tied it up with a lay-in when Johnson passed the ball to him when he was wide open under the basket. Daniel hit the century-mark for the locals on a foul shot when Carlos Bailey committed Murray's 41st foul. Three minutes and 28 seconds remained in the overtime. Pardue knocked the bottom out of the bucket with a two-hand set from the corner and the Panthers led 102-99. Harrell left the game with.

a minute and 38 seconds to play on a foul and Westerfield followed him 28 seconds later. Murray declined both foul shots in favor of trying for a basket and took the ball out of bounds with one minute left. The Panthers started freezing the ball. Allie Curtis fouled Dick Gott and Murray called for time. When play was resumed, the Thoroughbreds declined the free throw and took the ball out of bounds.

Purcell fired a shot that missed and Bailey rebounded it for a goal making score 102 to 101 with 15 seconds remaining to play. The Panthers kept the ball the remainder of the playing time. Purcell added 17 points to his total in the final period as Murray scored 32 points to erase Wesley-an's eight-point third-quarter advantage. With the Panthers leading 81-74, Murray started a down-court press defense and it apparently rattled Wesleyan a bit. Harrell hit an amazing underhand shot after which Ernie Abernathy, who had replaced Norman Christopher in the third quarter, committed his fifth personal as Gipe attempted a jump shot.

According to Capt. Robert Weber, who investigated the accident, blood stains around the broken window, cabinets, baggage and ticket windows and around the safe indicated the thief was bleeding profusely while he was pilfering the safe.

The money was contained In three locked steel boxes, Luther Rowlett, station manager, told police. Of the amount stolen, $857.36 was in currency and change. One box held two checks, one from Central Electronics Supply Co. for $22.22, and one from the Cambron Body Shop for 88 cents, he stated. There was no evidence that the safe had been pried open, Weber said.

He observed that it appeared the safe either had not been properly locked when the bus station was closed Friday night, or that the burglar knew the combination. Rowlett told the police that the night agent, James Webb, locked the safe at 10 p. m. Friday. On Saturday morning when Rowlett checked the safe, he noticed that it Would not lock.

He surmised that a pipe or tool that would fit over the safe handle was used to force open the safe, he said. The robbery was reported at 6:20 a. m. Saturday by J. W.
