"I wonder if you will put me straight on this question. I have read in your column and in ethers that creams should never be used when the skin is affected with acne. I have had a miid case of acne for over a year and, although I have tried many things, I find an acne cream is the only thing that will bring the eruptions to a head and clear them up temporarily.

Should I continue using this cream or is it delaying the permanent cure? Helen ANS. Acne creams and ointments are usually highly amisep-Jc preparations, often made with a non-oiiy base, although they may spread like a cream. These, when used according to directions, are beneficial. Usually a drying, antiseptic lotion is used in connection with the cream. Avoid cleansing and nourishing creams.

QUES. "1 am seventeen or I will be in a couple of weeks and my aunt has promised me a bottle of really good perfume for my high school parties. Can you tell me what kind I should choose? Joey." ANS. First, I would suggest that you go to the shops and sniff and sniff. Select the one you think you would like best and have the salesgirl put a drop of each on your wrist and sniff some more when it has dried.

Not all perfumes be have the same on all skins. If you still like It, you might get a tiny bottle and use it after you get home. See how your friends react to It. Use it sparingly always. Modes and Manners QUES.

"One of the girls in mv office is going out of the state for her vacation. She will visit in a town where I have cousins. Would it be in order to ask her to look them up? Shall I give her a letter of introduction? K. ANS. Apparently, the girl referred to is not an intimate friend.

In such a case it would be better to forget the matter, unless you merely wish to mention that you have cousins living in that town. For if you wish this girl to look up your cousins, it calls for a letter of introduction. A letter of introduction, on the other hand, is not lightly handed out. It places a definite responsibility upon the person to whom it is addressed. It means, also, that you are willing to obligate yourself for any courtesies which may be extended to the bearer of the letter of introduction.

Only when you wish two intimate friends to make each other's acquaintance is such a letter in order. QUES. "Is 'Pardon me, the Do- lite thing to say when apologizing? irmaM." ANS. In asking someone's pardon the important thing is to try to sound genuinely sorry. Avoid such contractions as "Pardon me," "Excuse me, pleaie," "Sorry," therefore.

They are curt-sounding Say rather "I beg your pardon." or 'Will you excuse me, please?" "I am so sorry." In short, you must take the time to be polite if you really are concerned. (f Prior to 1933, Kentucky was dry under both the Eighteenth Amendment to the Federal Constitution, and a State Constitutional Prohibition Amendment. In 1933, national repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment legalized the distilling industry enly so far as the Federal Government was concerned. National Repeal still left Kentucky with State prohibition laws which, under our State Constitution, could not be repealed until the November election of 1935. Pending that date, the Legislature in 1934 passed an act known as the Liquor Control Act, which now permits (as an emergency measure) the sale of alcoholic beverages.

The Liquor Control Act, which is merely an emergency measure enacted pending the repeal vote, must not be confused with the State Constitution's Prohibition Amendment. The Prohibition Amendment is a permanent part of our State Constitution unless the people of Kentucky vote to repeal it on November 5. A vote for Repeal in November is NOT a vote to repeal die Liquor Control Act now in effect. It is simply a vote to put an end to Constitutional Prohibition in Kentucky, and to replace it with a system by which each county, city, town or precinct may determine for itself whether or not alcoholic beverages may be sold therein.
