LANCASTER JEW SPRING AND SUMMER A New York correspondent of the ern gives the following lively but truthful pen drawing of old Beast Boinbastes the pink of Massachusetts chivalry and silver ware thieves: Brigade of Massachusetts State Militia under the command of Major Gener al Butler will soon go into camp for five days in the vicinity of Boston I hap pened to see the last season on the occasion of the annual Imagine a bag of offal with a huge wart for a head and two gigantic Dutch sausages for legs tricked in the flummery of epaulettes feathers gold lace clanking sword and bristling spurs lolling on the haunches of a Massachusetts barb followed by a gang of Yankee squirts and you have the picture complete The best part of the joke this season is that the Mayor of Boston has or dered a squad of police down to the encamp ment to protect the gallant heroes from the assaults of unadiniring which cannot be surpassed by any in the market and which will be disposed of at Manufacturers lowest prices Orders solicited oci25J865 by ALBERT STILLMAN President Johnson has at last come to the conclusion that he is the Chief Execu tive of the and as such he is be ginning to exercise his prerogatives in de capitating the block heads of a few of the little tyrannical popinjay Emperors of the ive Monarchies of the South His guillotine axe is too heavy for the little Sickles of the Carolinas the infamous character of Key notoriety Sickles was as cruel as cowardly Satrap No 2 Irish Sheridan (libel on his race) has also walked the death plank and the Pope of Georgia ere this has doubtless followed in his wake This last character will be remembered as one who a truthful chronicler in 1862 during his bloody reign in Missouri described to wit: proceed ings in Missouri will challenge a comparison with the most infernal record ever bequeath ed by the licensed murderer to the abhorrence of I le was also the Quixotic hero who captured men and 15000stands of whereas he had not captured a man or musket a lie unparalleled in the annals of mendacity His future ilhead it is to be hoped be in the on our western plains as major general of the commissary department as his genius lies in his stomach and not in his head He is a much Letter judge of bread and bacon than of civil law He has been more recently and truthfully described as Yankee compound of Bobodil and Mun chausen" The only marvel about this whole matter is how three such creatures cohid be found in dll the land embodying so much meanness cruelty and ignorance as to be placed to domineer over decent white men and to sub serve so well the rabble negroes and white lazaroni scallawags of the South We hope now they will remove to Hayti and marry some of the negro duchesses of that delectable land and in time would doubtless rise to the dignity of Emperors lositions that their instincts tastes and par tiality for niggers eminently fit them as successors in line of the Soloques and Gef fards of that Editors Louisville Democrat I see by the Democrat of the 15th inst the proceeding of a meeting of ederal offi cers appointing delegates to a general meet ing to be held in Louisville onthe26th inst steps to secure a custodian in the fu ture for the flags and banners of the Ken tucky regiments in the late war One of the most beautiful flags at rank fort and one which waved over a regiment that rendered as good service to the Govern ment in suppressing the rebellion as any oth er Kentucky regiment bears the inscription bv the loval ladies of Owensboro to Col 17th regiment Kentucky was placed by me into the hands of Governor Robinson and mentioned special ly in a message by him to the Legislature In the name of the ladies of Owens and of the regiment which I had the honor to command I desire to protest against the removal of this flag from the capital or that it shall be placed into the hands of any other custodian than it now has These flags and banners were placed by common consent at the capital among the archives of the State and there they should remain not subject to be removed at the whim of any set of men whether they were soldiers or not and particularly should it not be done simp ly because the good people of this Common wealth have in the exercise of their constitu tional right elevated to the various State offices men who in times past in some in stances have filled the same positions with credit to themselves with satisfaction to the people and with honor to the State I am perfectly willing to risk the integrity of our people the management of our affairs the honor of our State our beloved Common wealth with all of her household gods in the care and keeping of the distinguished gentlemen who have recently been triumph antly elected to till the both white and black) unrestricted suffrage should occur in Kentucky wc hope the blacks will not permit themselves to be deluded by such political mendicants and pseudo philanthrophists as Sam McKee and fellows of like ilk as are now courting their favor and estranging them from their only and real friends in our State the wealthy and intelligent whites The black man in bondage had a very proper horror of white the present class of cheaply fabricated humanitarians the merest gas bags of politicians and shams of moral re formers who care no more for the real wel fare of the black race than their father the devil does for holy water These penny squirts all want to get to Congress the glory is great and the pay in conceivably greater to their avaricious eyes and having been denied by a wise Nature of the God like feature brains and knowing they could never reach any decent station in life on their own merits these beggarly crea tures resort to bamboozling Sambo AA'e have too much confidence in the awakening scuse of the Kentucky negro however to allow themselves to be gulled bv these long haired bogus saints They sold the privileges and rights of their own race and their own boon as freemen for and they would more readily barter away those of the blacks for pennies or pos tal currency Their tyrannical and avari cious little souls entertain but'two hopes to hold on towhatthey already possess and the confiscation of the estates of their more favored neighbors The blacks have amongst their own race in this once proud and peaceful Common wealth scores of their number of superiors in every attribute that constitutes greatness in comparison to these howling white colored men honesty brains and a moral sense of decency If the blacks in the course of time must have Congressmen let them select of their own number instead of from this class of pecuniary and moral bankrupts and canting hypocrites that are daily white washing the man and brother" with their foamy frothings Darkies they are like sheep killing dogs open their mouths and you will find the wool in their teeth They have all got axes to grind and they intend you shall turn the grind stones allow these postage stamp politicians to humbug you You will read of them in your bible as in sheep and are to be shunned as you would a greasy counterfeit quarter or a grave yard on a dark stormy night They will promise you like Satan on the mountain worlds of wealth when they have not a cent to give they only desire to use you as tools to better their own mendicant condition It will be to you the old story of the and they will eat the turkey and drink the fat and leave you to diet on buz zard You knew them when you were bondsmen as the stingy man that would never give a a Time has not improved them except in They have brought untold trouble on the South and everywhere upon the blacks and upon the whites and wherever they dominate as in Tennessee they involve all in misery trouble and poverty Their teachings have scattered your race have darkened the windows and closed the doors of the happy plantation cabin the truck patch has been up no slick faced cheerful children are to be seen where once was mirth contentment and no thought of to morrow or sickness all is lonesome and desolate no kind mistress or provider to re lieve distress or gratify wants makes her rounds no corn husking or plantation song are heard and fiddle and de hangs tuneless You want bread they give you the ballot they give you freedom the freedom to starve and to hew your way un lettered and unskilled
