68 Ridgecrest Students Get Diplomas RIDGECREST Sixty-eight received diplomas in the garage of an automobile agency In Ridgecrest last week. The students were graduated from the eighth grade of the James Monroe School, whjch boasts no auditorium or room large enough to hold that many graduates and their families. Participants In the program were the Rev. Philip D. Norvell, pastor of the Ridgecrest Community Methodist C3iurch who asked the invocation and pro nounced the benediction.

An address of welcome was made by Robbie Lee Smith, a graduate. An accordion solo was presented by Patricia Hildreth. Addresses were made by Kristine Powers whose subject was Our Jerry Lloyd, who spoke on "Freedom PYom Patricia Matighan, whose subject was "Freedom of Bill O'Day, "Freedom of Speech" and Vivian Jackson whose subject was "Freedom of the Press." Grant Wood played a special arrangement of "I Believe" on the French horn and Joe Lee and Nathan Spooner played a trumpet duet, "Over the Waves. Hardin Lineback, principal of the school, presented the class and H. C.

Whole Man, Sermon Topic T.4FT—Aaron Pi Brown, pastor of the First Ghrlstian Church, delivered the baccalaureate sermon, "The Complete Man," for the Taft Junior College graduating class Sunday. The Rev. J. E. McConnell, pastor of tiie Church of the Nazarene, gave the invocation and the benediction.

The Rev. Edith Bailey, pastor of the Foursquare Church, read the scripture. The Taft Junior College a capella' choir presented several selections under the direction of Thomas J. Stevens. Margaret Smith, organist, played the processional and the recessional.

Police Recover 2 Stolen Cars stolen cars have been recovered this week, according to Delano police. Sgt. Al Brower left Monday morning for Yreka, to bring back Arnold Nielsen, being held there by the Hem 10,1954 27 Highway Patrol. Nielsen, will face charges of grand theft of auto. He allegedly took an Olds- mobUe sedan from Vic Baumstark's used car lot the night of May and was driving that car when apprehended in Yreka.

A new pickup, without license plates, was stolen from the Haberfelde lot April 24 and oh Monday Delano police were notified by teletype from Redwood City that Richard T. Booker was being held there. Booker la being charged with carrying concealed weapons and attempted burglary in Redwood City, and Delano wiU forward the grand theft auto complaint to that city.
