We desire to call attention to tbe ad of Dr. Fred B. Wood in this paper. His sermons are practical and full of consolation for every day living and it Is to be regret ted that tbe church Is not able to ex tend him a call. Tbe amount of salary necessary to secure such talent seems not to be within the reach of our people and until a greater sacrifice is felt necessary by each Individual member, it will hardly be possible, to secure a preacher that will satisfy the congregation. Tbe suit of the Eel River Railroad against tbe Wabash, tried in the clr cult court at Kokomo, last week, resulted in a different verdict, and more of it, than was expected. Judge Brownlee decided that the Eel river company had forfeited Its charter by leasing Itself to a competing line, and by his decision the Wabash is dispossessed of the road from Logansport to Butler, and tbe Eel River forfeits its charter to tbe State. A receiver will be appointed, but the supreme court will have a turn at it.

If the decision is sustained the receiver will sell the road to the highest bidder. Little Miss nunter, whose name Is mentioned in connection with tbe school entertainment, belongs to a family where there are several older children who play the piano and little Bessie while yet "creeping" about the house, frequently gave the whistling sounds, but no especial attention was given her until when six or seven years old the older girls were practicing a new and difficult piece when her father discovered that Bessie while at rlav In another room had mastered tbe tune without the loss of a note She was then encouraged but has nev er been Instructed by any teacher in her peculiar talent. Employes are promised that all claims will be paid up by the middle of June. Some of the employes have about $3,000 due them. I had a pole break down with me, which gave me a pretty bad shak ing up. (We wonder what kind of tel egraph poles they use in C. A.

The Gualaniala government, is trying to borrow two million pounds to complete the road inland to the capltol city. If they succeed there will be two more lively years here, and everybody will have money.

We have received a letter from the friends of Brlce Snyder, who was drowned, last week, in Fish Lake, Hamilton, askinsr us to correct the false reports concerning the fatal ac cident. The facta as given are that John Chandler, Otto Becbtol, Ray Robinett, Willie Enfield and Brlce Snyder, of Metz, went to tbe lake on Monday, May 24, remaining over night. About one o'clock the next day, Brlce anchored his boat near thnn and aittini? in the bottom OI the boat, rested is head on the eat, and bis companions supposed him to be sleeping. When they were ready to go to the landing, they gave him the alarm by shouting and throwing stones in the water. The stones were not thrown with the intention of hitting him and none struck the boat.

The boys did not leave him, but remained on the shore until Brice started, when they pulled out with, their own boats, and Brice followed about fifteen rods, when John Chandler saw him fall backwards and supposed he was in the bottom of his boat. Otto Bechtol reached, the boat a minute after Brice fell, and finding the boat empty gave the alarm. The other boys rowed and tried to keep the place while one of their number went for help. Two of the boys became sick from the excitement and had to go ashore. It was nearly two hours before help arrived.

Brice's father says the dot was subject to fainting spells, and believes that explains the cause of death. The boys had not been drinking and none of them were addicted to drink. The sorrow is deep enough without any false statements. Save Your, Eyes. 0 Men's and Bov's Finft Rtfawe i ok 01 nr 01 7c 1 and Boy's Fedoras at $1 and better, Stiff Hats at $1 and bettor.
