George J. Abshler and Howard Royston went to their deaths on the Stat Prison gallows last night for the slaying of four men In connection with the robbery of the First National Bank, of Lamar, in May, 1928. The double hanging left Jake Fleagle, a fugitive, the only member of the band of ruthless killers who were sought throughout the United States for more than a year after the robbery.

Ralph Fleagle, reputed bandit leader, was hanged a fortnight ago. In the Lamar holdup, A. N. Par rlsh. president of the bank, and his son John were slain.

Two tellers were kidnapped and later the body of one, E. A. Kesslnger, was found. Royston had been wounded In the holdup and Dr. W.

W. Inger, Dighton, Kaa, was called to treat his wounds. The doctor was found murdered later. A widespread serch for the bandit killers, which incidentally cleared up many other crimes, resulted In the arrest of Ralph Fleagle, who turned states evidence and confessed the crime. He died asserting the state had not kept its promise to prevent his hanging in exchange for the DR.
