Dice gave the flag lesson, and reports on the history classes of the high school were received. The medal to be given by the chapter for excellence in United States history will be presented on class night. Mrs. Mary Rowland, of Washington, who represented the chapter at the conti nental congress, sent report of the meeting, which was read by Mrs. Frank Luke.

Mrs. Donna Guy Akin, national poppy director, has announced that the Indiana department has gone far ahead oi any other department which ordered popple through national headquarters.

Sales have reached the 251.000 mark. Indianapolis will sell approximately 35.000 poppies Satur day. May 20. official poppy day an over the country for the Legion and Auxiliary. The Auxiliary haa no paid workers and all money earned on poppy day Is used for actual welfare and child welfare work.

Far Use of Disabled Veterans. The poppy profits are used for the benefit of disabled world war veterans and their families. Last year approxi mately sii.uuu waa placed tn unit treasuries through Individual unit sales, and a generous sum waa con tributed to the national welfare fund. No new candidates hare entered the race for national page. Four are entered: Mrs.

Harrison Post, of the American Legion, has or dered 5.000 Miss Blanche Rimmel, secretary of the Kendallvlllc Unit, has reported three additional members for 1928. The Leroy Shelton Unit, of Rochester, met Monday evening In the new Legion home. Two new members were initiated and plans for Poppy day were completed.

The unit is planning a Joint meeting for the Legion and Auxiliary. The Bruce P. Robison Unit will not hold the regular May luncheon. Mrs. W.

H. Long will be hostess for the June luncheon and all day business and social session, which will be in the nature of a Mother's day meeting. The unit served the Boy Scout with their annual banquet Tuesday evening. A committee haa been appointed to take charge of the arrangements for the luncheon which the unit will serve for the presidents and secretaries' meeting. The national executive committee haa adopted a budget of $12,000 each for the child welfare and rehabilitation funds.

The departments are urged to give 10 per cent, of their poppy earnings toward thla budget. The national organization has pledged $500 to the Legion child welfare program. The Simon Snyder Unit No. 122, of Liberty, will meet June 14 In the Legion clubrooms. The unit gave kitchen equipment to the Legion rooms.

A check for $20 has been sent to Dawson Springs Veteran Bureau Hospital for supplies. The unit also gave $10 to the Legion to. aid a disabled soldier. Mrs. Verna Douglas was elected vice president for the Initiation ceremony at Knights town June 2.

The unit has sold $40 worth of articles made by the disabled soldiers, and has S2 toward the June ice cream treat at the Knlghtstown Home. Several suits of summer weight pajamas have been sent to the Veterans1 Bureau Hospital at Dawson Springs, Ky. Tha auxiliary ways and mean committee ha been authorized to buy four dozen bottles of vanilla and a gross of metal sponges to be placed on sale. The next meeting will be held the third Tuesda) afternoon in Mrs. Bern Ice Burgess, secretary of the Goodland Unit, has reported seven new members.
