Sept. 10 Deadline for Application Examination applications for United States assistant radio inspector must be on file not later than September 10, according to an announcement by Henry M. Trimpe, Indianapolis secretary of the civil service examining board. The duties of the assistant said Trimpe, are mostly in aiding the inspector in detail and routine work. Four years education in either electrical or radio engineering or it equivalent is prerequisite.

PROMISES SPEEDY ACTION The Indianapolis News Bureau, 605 Albee Building. WASHINGTON, August Oliver M. Loomis, United States attorney for the northern Indiana district. conferred with officials of the department of justice on the law violation cases of Lake county. Methods of co-operating the activities of government investigators and of bringing the mass of evidence already obtained before the federal grand jury in its coming special session were discussed.

Following his conference with justice department officials, Loomis said the cleanup would be speeded and that prosecutions' would be conducted vigorously. Mitchell is tremendously interested in the cleanup efforts," he said. "I was assured of every aid the government could bestow. Co-operation all along the line is certain. Election 'frauds as well as violation of the prohibition and narcotic laws will be thoroughly tigated with a view to bringing all offenders to justice.

Violations of the white slave and immigration laws also will be investigated." The Chicago office of the justice department's bureau of Investigation is running down alleged "leaks," he said. Advance information on the raids in East Chicago enabled some. violators to "cover up" ahead of the federal raiders. Sources of these "leaks" are now being investigated and Loomis does not apprehend much future trouble of this kind. "The department is investigating the 'leak' factor from every angle," he said.

Loomis left tonight for South Bend, where he will continue the task of compiling the evidence to be submitted to the grand jury, which will convene August 31. 35 CAUGHT IN DRY NET Federal and Local Officials Conduct Raids in North Carolina. CHARLOTTE, N. August 22 At least thirty-five persons accused of violations of the federal prohibition laws were under arrest after two series of raids in North Carolina by prohibtin officials and United States marshals. Prohibition agents and deputy marshals had brought seventeen persons to the Mecklenburg County Jail late this afternoon and search continued for an unannounced number of others.
