Flash No one will have to suf fer through a steeplechase tomorrow. There's no racing. 23 Surprises were almost as numerous as $2 bets at Jamaica's Empire City meeting today with a juvenile claimed for $3,000 and another that ran as a $2,000 plater a few months ago win ning the two sections of the Ards ley Handicap and the throng of 30.790 setting various -betting marks. Mrs. T. J. Carroll's Weyanoke, a gelding that ran in the $2,000 class last July, took the first division of the Ardsley in 1.44 2-5 for the mile and 70 yards.

He was a $7 for $2 choice and carried only 108 pounds despite a trio of victories recently. Bel Reigh Triumphs The second division went to Mrs. Tilyou Christopher's Bel fieigh, $17.40 for $2, who toted 111 pounds the same distance in 1.43 4-5. A world record for the amount bet on the daily double was set when $126,868 was poked through the mutuel windows, and a national mark of $2,607,043 was established on the seven-race program. In addition, the $450,371 wagered on the final race established both Empire City and Jamaica standards for a tingle event.

Lieut Col. C. V. "Whitney's Pukka Gin, winner of the Champagne Stakes, and G. D.

Widener's Platter finished second and third behind Weyanoke. They finished only noses apart. Stymie Runs Second Mrs. E. D.

Jacobs' Stymie was a length behind Bel Reigh and Harry Lamontagne's Futurity winner, Rodney Stone, grabbed third. In the card's secondary feature, the New Rochelle Handicap of six furlongs, Overdrawn added $3,825 to the bank account of the Dear born Stables by annexing first place. He was the fa vorite and romped the distance in 1.12 1-5. Farmerette and Scenic, coupled as an entry, followed the winner home in that order. Empire City Results At Jamaica.

Ruksh, sixth to Shining Waves, in his only start may improve enough to gain the place. Rampage was in the money recently and rates a chance with these.

SECOND Little Runny Wing Tip Boysan Little Bunny wa's way over his head last time out and even then showed speed. Likely to score at a fair price here. Wing Tip has some cood New England races and in New York was sixth to Persiflage. Boysan, beaten narrowly by George Case, will be a stout factor. THIRD Detroit Bull Bloodhound Loch Ness Detroit Bull, ran second to Ginoca at the meeting and another effort of the same kind will see him the winner.

Bloodhound has been threatening and was runner-up to Cirio last time out Loch Ness, surprise victor the other day, is dangerous in this field. FOURTH Harebell Randle's Queen Cushlamacree Harebell, third to Sweeping Lee in his most recent start at Garden State, seems to have a clear edge over this band. Randle's Queen, a steady performer on the half-mile circuit, will furnish the battle along with Cushlamacrce, second to Rare at Cumberland. FITII Uncle Seaweed Knight's Quest Rouse Drasron Uncle Seaweed had tough luck in the Ogle recently, tossing his rider with victory in sight. Needs only luck on his side to take this.

Knight's Quest, bothered In the Ogle, may also find better fortune this time and get second. Rouge Dragon probably will be the favor ite. SIXTH Johnnie Undulator Chicago Dr. Trainer Pat Brady brought John nie back in fine form to win after a long layoff and he ought to make it two straight Undulator, third to Port Harmony, figures as the prin cipal threat to our choice.
