Stull recently returned from a visit with Mrs. A. Claude Turner, of Calvert county, who was her schoolmate at St. Mary's Seminary. Lieut.

L. K. Tuttle was In Annapolis during the week. He has just finished a postgraduate course at Purdue University and is on his way to Norfolk to join the new cruiser Newport News for sea duty. Visits Mrs.

Owens Capt. Vincent Godfrey, USN (retired), of Pittsburgh, was a guest last week of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Arthur B. Owens. Mrs.

Joseph Valiant, of Carvel Hall, left Wednesday for Newport, R.I., to be the guest of her niece. Mrs. Johnson, wife of Rear Admiral Felix Johnson, for several weeks. Captain and Mrs. Edmond Taylor and their children.

Miss Fay Taylor and Edmond Taylor, left the Naval Academy on Thursday by motor for the West Coast. They are on their way to Honolulu, where Captain Taylor will have duty. He has just been relieved from duty as athletic director at the Naval Academy. Miss Brice Engaged Doctor and Mrs. Oliver T.

Brice, of St. Margarets, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Mary Del-ma Brice, to Ensign John L. Carroll, aon of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Carroll, of Freemont, Ohio.

Miss Brice attended Stetson University in Florida and is a member of Delta Delta Delta. In 1947 she was the Orange Bowl Queen in Miami. She has modeled for the John Robert Powers agency in New York. Ensign Carroll was graduated from Dartmouth University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi, and recently has been an instructor In the Naval Academy. He was graduated from the Academy, class of 1947.

Slagle. and his fiancee, Miss Patricia Ann Prucha, of Washington, to visit him at the White House prior to their wedding ceremony at 3.30 P.M. at Mounts Vernon Methodist Church. The bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Hugo Prucha, and the bridegroom's parents were of the intimate little group received by the President, who then went on to the monument grounds for ceremonies connected with Fourth of July observances. The President is scheduled to be with Mrs. Truman and Miss Margaret Truman at Bolivar. when the President of Venezeula, Romulo Gallegos. on behalf of his Government and the people, natives of Venezuela living in the Missouri town, present to this Government a statue of Simon Bolivar.

The President of Venezuela arrived in Washington Thursday and a luncheon was held for him at the Pan-American Building Friday. From now on his social schedule will be filled to overflowing with a reception at the Venezuelan Embassy a notable function. Conrention Delegate Mrs. Kenneth Royall, 'wife of the Secretary of the Army, is jubilant over the fact that she h2s been chosen a delegate at large from North Carolina, her home State, to the Democratic Convention in Philadelphia. She will have with her Mrs.

O. Max Gardner, widow of the former Under Secretary of the Treasury, who was appointed United States Ambassador to Great Gritain and died on the eve of sailing for his post. Mrs. John L. Sullivan, wife of the Secretary of the Navy, is turning her back on politics and has gone on to Rye Beach, N.H., for the summer.

Mrs. Clark Clifford, wife of the President's special counsel, will also go to Rye Beach after the convention, which she will attend with Mr. Clifford. The Attorney General and Mrs. Tom Clark are going to Philadelphia.
