O'Rourke, of Westernport, received the degree of bachelor of engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Tuesday morning. He stood at the head of his class of 59 members. He has accepted a position with the Em-j pire Construction Co. of Baltimore, and will enter upon his duties immediately. He is a son of Mrs.

Margaret O'Rourke and the late Martin O'Rourke. His mother attended the graduation. She was accompanied by her brother. Rev. William McVeigh, of Washington, and another son-, William O'Rourke, of Fort Brafg, N.

C. William Francis East, of Piedmont, was graduated Monday from Western Maryland College, Westminster, receiving his bachelor of arts degree. Mr. East is a son of Mrs. William Schneider, of 112 West Fairview street, Piedmont.

Mr. and Mrs. Schneider and family moved here about a year ago from Mountain Lake Park. James B. Bissett, one of IS Trl- Towns boys at the Boys' State at Jackson's Mill, was given marked recognition by being nominated as one of the two candidates for the office of governor.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keyran Bissett, Piedmont, and is a member of this year's graduating class of St. Peter's High School. Brief Mention The exhibit -of the manual arts department will be held at Bruce High School auditorium Monday, 7 to 9 p.
