LeRoy FESLER CALLS SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL To Consider Appropriation for Assessor. Leo K. Fesler, coimty abdttor. has issued t. call for a special meeting on thai date. It also is, believed hat the council will ask for a report from the special advisory committee appointed recently by the county commissioners to Investigate and report on.

a program for the future care and control of dependent wards in this county. The appointment of this committee resulted from the refusal of the council, at its last meeting, to make appropriations lor a new home for colored orphans and a new site for the detention home until. the commissioners had accompanied their request for appropriations with some definite outline of plans for the future care of the county's ward. 154) Deputy Aaaeasom. The appropriation for the expenses of the township assessor is necessary to meet the cost of about ISO additional deputies that have been hired by Michael Jefferson, assessor, and who have been at work since February completing a new tax schedule for real and personal property.

Mr. Orme was selected in 1920 by the county council to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Albert Hoffman, then councilman from the Third district. The Third district comprises Decatur and Wayne town shipa. Mr. Orme at the time of his election, and ever since, has been a resident of Perry township.

The discrepancy was not noticed publicly until a little more than a week ago. 'Sarreaaer Ona, The selection of his successor Is the subject of some speculation. Although the county council members receive only 120 a year salary, the office is regarded as important, for the council holds a rein over the proposed expenditures of the county ommissioners. Persons interested in keeping the cost of government down to the most economical basis take interest in the selection of the council members. William R'ce.
