rec mod onn mnrf gress relative to silver legislation. Furthermore, bears made but transient headway with emphasis put on en unofficial announcement that plans requiring distillers to pay a parity price for grains used in making alcohol had proved to be a failure, and would be abandoned. Contributing to the advance of Vheat prices was a pronounced letup in liquidating sales that have recently been a big weight on the market. Eastern interests were conspicuous buyers during the noon hour, and it was at this stage that maximum gainswere scored, with prices up more than" 2 cents from earlier low levels. Offerings increased, however, on the bulge, and prices did not retain the full advance.

Corn and oats throughout the day howed relatively more strength than wheat did. Improved shipping demand for corn was noted, with rural offerings very small. About 200,000 bushels of white corn were disposed of at Kan-. cas City to go South and Southwest. BflftAtn 1 lexas a unoran.
