New York. April 17 Except for a few isolated cases of strength, the Bond Market was caught in a slow downdrift today. There was sufficient support, however, to keep losses well within a point in most instances and the issues that evaded the minus column displayed a fair amount of buoyancy. These included Warren Brothers 6s, up 2H at 991b; International Hydro Electric 6s, up 1 at 27; Third Avenue adjustment 5s, up 34 at 13, and Adams Express 4s, up at 100. Trading was slow, total sales ag-greating $6,012,600, par value, against $5,704,300 on Thursday.

The Associated Press average of 10 utilities touched a new 1942 low at 94.5, off .2 of a point. The 10 foreign Issues in the index went to a ne 1942 high at 46.3 while small ch.nges ruled other groups. Giving up fractions to around a point were, among others, St. Paul 4lss at 483-4. Utah Power and Light 5s at 94.

Shackelford, 69-year-old Albemarle county resident and for many years associated with the extension division of Virginia Tech, died last night in University Hos pital of burns received in a fire which destroyed the Parkhurst Hotel, near Luray, last Wednesday. Shackelford was said to have been in his room shaving when the fire started and as the flames swelled he escaped through a win dow, witnesses said, but suffered burns about the neck, face and shoulders. He was brought to his home near Stony Point and was sent to the hospital here Wednesday afternoon.
