Western Canada Fuel association. Mr. Burgess said that Alberta production of coal for the first Ave months of 1944 was down 337, 294 tnna compared withhe corresponding period in 1943. Production Is lost because consumers were not ordering, and this production could never be caught up, he said. The manpower shortage alo fleeted the distribution of coal, he said.

Army Special Service force. Born and educated at Broadacres, Sask, he enlisted In September, 1910, and after training at Prince Rupert and Vancouver, B.C, went overseas in June, 1942. His brother, Pte. John, left Winnipeg for overseas on the same day and the brothers met on the boat going over. Pte.

John is also serving In Italy. Mrs. Agatha Hoffard, his mother, resides at 154 Pinedale ave, Norwood. Sgt. Ernest Walter Janes, whose wife resides at ste.

3, Bayview is a veteran ot the Sicilian and Italian campaigns. He enlisted one month after the outbreak of war and 'went overseas in December. 1939, with the 1st division. Prior to enlisting he was a member of the R.C.M.P. and had been stationed In Winnipeg for four years.
