CUMMINCS IFreaa The Tnbuaaa Laoeoa Bureau LONDON, Sept 5 Post war political condiUons in Europ and tht strategy of war against Japan will two main questions to be decided by Prime Minister Churchill and President Roosevelt when they meet again after nine mom entous months which have brought the Allies in sight of victory in this hemisphere. I Unlike the Quebec and Teheran conferences, where strategic preparations were dominant, the forthcoming consultations will be mainly political.

For Instance, It will have to be decided what Is to be done one, Hitler and his mas tsr gangsters have been beaten. Such measure as provisional civil government for Germany, the nature and character of National Socialism in all its forma, the financial and economic future of what will be a bankrupt country, control of secret underground movements and hosts of other mstters are expect, ed to com under France's place in the new Europe, it is understood, will be discussed as well as future peace plans to provide security for all nations, both large and small. The issue ol Poland's boundary quarrels between its leaders and parties, and Poland's future relations with the Soviet Union is another subject likely to be raised. Meanwhile there Is considerable press debate here on what peace terms should be Imposed on Germanywhether ruthlessly suppressive or only such as British and United States governments 20 years hence will be prepared to maintain by lore of arms if necessary. Influenced By Washington There Is also much talk about the extent to 'which Socialists and Communists in many liberated eountries'will hold political power.

Occasional criticism Is heard that Mr. Churchill Is not fully alive to some of these eventualities and also that he Is too easily Influenced b) Washington. "In dealing with post war 'prob lems," says Emanuel Shinwell. Labor member and one of the party's parliamentary leaders, "we must not allow ourselves to mould our policy under dictation from the united States. We must stand on our own feet.

We should be glad to co operate with the United States and other countries but we are quite capable with our vast resources, especially in the British Empire, of making our own contrl bution to post war questions." On the Pacific war, far reaching decisions will have to be taken by the prime minister and Mr. Roose velt to implement Mr. Churchill's pledge that once Germany Is beaten t'A DR. El. Ul Bay St, Toronto. Addrtu Canada's Navy guardian of a vital chain JUST as the steady flow of Canadian and American made war materiel to Britain was indispensable to the successful invasion of the continent, so final Victory depends on the maintenance of this stream of supplies from America to Europe, from factory to firing line. The protection of these vast convoys is the specialized job of Canada's Navy. History will record the magnificent manner in which it has been performed.

Indeed, in protecting convoy after convoy, Canada has forged another essential link between these two great comrades in arms, John Bull and Uncle Sam. And when Tomorrow brings us Victory and Peace surely Canada, of all nations, is best situated to further the continuation of goodwill between the British Commonwealth and the United States which is so necessary for a lasting World Peace. He was a Calvert, a famous English statesman, Secretary of State to King James in the early 17th century. In 1622 Calvert founded a colony in Newfoundland and, later, a colony in Maryland.

Thus, over 5o years ago Calsert forged a link which has strengthened throughout the years joining together for the good of mankind the British Com monwcalih and the United States. In the new settlements the principle of self government was inaugurated and religious toleration was enforced to its fullest ex tent. Thus, far back in the early 1600's a Calvert established in the New World many of the freedoms we arc fighting for today.
