We are dealing here Sunday at 8:15 and 10:40 a.m. and with something profoundly more A WA MAKING A GO OF LIFE Basic Experiences By ROY L. SMITH Read Luke All men experience great longings. All men are subject to certain great spiritual aspirations. These are not merely ardent desires to 7:30 p.m.

An intense moral sense is involved, in which the self-respect of the individual is at stake. "Can't you help me get a job that will give me the feeling that I am worth while?" a little office girl pler.ded with her pastor.

"They could make a machine that would do I am doing, and I am a human being." Deep down within the consciousness of every individual there is a feeling that we have an eternal destiny to fulfill that is above the level of the body or even of the mind. There seems to be an inner judge who is never satisfied, but is' always surging up in us, impelling us to a greater effort, greater achievement, more exalted living. It is not merely that we want to be better artisans, better craftsmen, or better performers. We want to be better persons. This is the truth that underlies the story of the prodigal son.

The silly lad, who had cut loose from his father's house, who had imposed upon by false friends, and who found himself the companion of hogs, knew very well that he had not been born to live with hogs. His kinship with his father made him desperately unhappy in such company. There was an inner hunger that kept gnawing at his spirit, causing more pain than the emptiness of his stomach. Nothing outside his father's house satisfied him for he had been born to high estate. What has become of that deep longing you experienced some time ago when you yearned earnestly to be fine, splendid and pure? What holy ambitions have'you surrendered in recent years? What has been the effect on your life? From "Making a Go of Life," by Roy L.

That's a real treat for you, the city dweller. But you should be sure to repay such generosity by sending something from the city or taking it on your next that will be as much of a treat to your country- dwelling friends. Physicians Consider Converting Abandoned Railroad Into 4-Lane Highway WAUKEGAN, 111: UB Illinois officials are considering a plan to convert the Chicago North Shore Milwaukee Railroad's abandoned shore line route into a four-lane express highway in the northeastern corner of the state. M.

E. Amstutz, Lake County highway superintendent, devised the plan. He said Wednesday the proposed road would serve communities from Wilmette to Waukegan. He said he had received a letter from E. A.

Rosenstone, director of the Illinois Public Works Department, saying the state was studying the proposed route. Hattie Carnegie or Balmain of Paris must be proud of 'em as they win and lose husbands in staged kitchens and living rooms. But, as any man who has stayed home on a week day knows, life at home just ain't like that. To wit: Under pressure of the job I was sitting home before the set the other day, staring at an unfolding emotional crisis, while in the kitchen a woman was unfolding a real- life emotional crisis to my wife. You never saw better dressed women than those on the screen. But what were my wife and the woman in the kitchen wearing? They were dressed in shorts, T- shirts and sandals.
