Martin Pass Traffic Mgr. Gen'l Pass Tfct Agent A special meeting of iha county board of election supervisors wee held yesterday morning to unravel a tangle Into the Casatown special school district had fallen in the matter of placing in nominatio four candidates for the offioe of School-board. The convention at which the nominations were made was striotly a non-parfclaan a3ilr, it wad claimed; but as a mattar of fact two Republicans and the same number of Damoorats were placed in nomination with the understanding that the four names would go on the ballota under the head of "People's Ticket." The convention was held on March 15th, and in due course of time the names of the candidates were certified to the board of supervisors. Two candidates, defeated and disappointed, immediately filed ob- actions to the ticket on the grounds that no such political organization as the "People's party" was known or recognized In the district, and thus arose the first complication. Meantime, some 26 voters, 11 of whom were delegates In the con vention, with the support of these two candidates, filed with the supervisors a petition praying that the names of all the candidates but one nominated by the convention be eliminajed from efae ticket.

Phase number three arose when another petition was filed for the purpose of knocking out the second petition for the specific reason that eleven of its signers were delegates in the convention, and thus bound to abide by their previous action. Before the matter came to a hear ing yesterday morning each faction withdrew its objections, with the understanding that they would file by petition this morning the names of the candidates, and, In tha Ian guage of one contestant, "the war will then be carried to the polin." The superlntendency of the Casstown schools is said to be the Issue at point. At 7:30 o'clock last evening the voters in the Oasstown special school district who have stood for fcbe action taken by the convention held March 15th filed with the board of election supervisors their choice of school Loard nominees by pefci tion. The petition, which is supported by sixty signers, contains the names of the following nominees: John McDowell and Franklin Main, George Burton, 2 years George Fuller, 1 year. This ticket will be known ae the Independent ticket, and unless the opposing faction files a counter nomination today it will go through without opposition.

3-18-135 And From Appearances the Cards Were Stocked, While One Player Seemed to Have a "Gold Deck" Up His Sleeve. Last night was the first time In many months that the entire "city family" has enjoyed the privilege of sitting all at once at the family board. The return of Mr Brannon from his protracted eastern trip, however, made possible a "full" council. The meeting was called for the specific purpose 'considering the much discussed saloon ordinance, and as noses had been counted so often, with MoCurdy and Means voting no, and Byrkett, Crofoot, Davis and Dickey voting yes, leaving barely one vote shy, much interest centered in this, Mr Brannon's first vote on the subject. His friends, however, had claimed that if the ordinance happened to appeal to his sense ot fairness and justice, hia love of good government would insure bis vote in favor of the ordinance, and their hopes were realized.

Owing to some delay in getting the work of the evening under way Dr Means was unable to remain to vote on the ordinance, being called away professionally, leaving Mr MoCurdy to vote alone in the matter. After Mr Dickey had read thp ordinance the third time and movf its passage, Mr Brannan moved an amendment, changing the hour of closing from 10 to 11 but the point was urged that it might be dangerous to tamper with the ordi nance before its passage, and Mr Brannan assured the members that he would do nothing to jeopardize the measure. He would, however, oflar an amendment after voting for it in Its original form. On the call for a vote all the members but Mo- Curdy answered in the affirmative. Then Mr Brannan prepared an ordinance amending Section 1, in the particular referred to above, and after its first reading he moved a suspension of the rules to pass It to its second reading.

On the 4 ote all the members except McCurdy stood with Mr Braunan, and the motion was lopt During a lull In the proceedings Attorney McPhergon took the floor In behalf of Thomas Elaoa, the garbage collector, whose contract with the city expired last week, or, as Attorney MoPhernon claimed, was arbitrarily cut off by the sanitary committee. Mr MoPherson seemed to have an especial grievance against Dr Means, the chairman of the sanitary committee, but as the Dr had left before the matter came up the remaining members of council were averse to considering the matter in bis absence. There will probably be no more meetings of the present connall until the final assembly on April 6th. UEW OASES PILED In Common Pleas Court. Awarded riighest Fair.
