SHORE TITLES TONIGHT Tonight's North Shore ice meet will draw 350 of the speediest skaters in Illinois to the six lap course at the foot of First st. in Northbrook. The meet, sponsored by the North- brook Skating club, will get under way at 6:30 o'clock. The skaters will have two more chances to show what they can do this week-end. On Saturday the Peirce Skating club will conduct the Western Open meet in Humboldt park, and Sunday the Glen Ellyn club will be host for the Illinois State meet. Six New Champions Assured Most of the leading skaters in Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Missouri are expected to enter the Western Open. The Northbrook and state meets, of course, are for Illinois skaters only. The battle for team honors tonight will feature the Northwest Skating club, defending champion; Peirce, Glen Ellyn, and the Champaign-Urban a club. At least six new champions will be crowned, as most of the title holders have either advanced to higher age classes or are out of competition for the present. Some fine racing is expected in the intermediate class, with at least five skaters having a chance to take the title. Juvenile Champions Return Melrene Matthis and Richard Ring will defend their juvenile titles. They are expected to score heavily for Peirce, since they are rated among the top juveniles in the nation. PLAY BETTER GOLF By Tommy Armour YOU'VE got to be in balance as you address the ball or you won't have much chance of staying in equilibrium thruout your swing. This balance at address requires that your knees be bent just a wee bit, so you have just the suggestion of a sitting-down feeling. Your center of weight will seem to be about in the bottoms of your hip pockets. i our weight will be about equally distributed from your toes to your heels. Get yourself in balance as I've advised and you will be able to swing freely and remain stable, without any tendency to tilt forward onto your toes. Tomorrow: Same swing for woods and irons.
