Dr. Cigrand, who died Sunday in Copley Memorial hospital, Aurora, was past commander of the Roosevelt-Aurora post No. 84, American Legion, and past president of the Fox Valley Dentists society and the Lions club of Aurora. He once was a Northwestern university football player and later a football official.

I XV She was the daughter of William Jen-nings Bryan, the silver 2 orator and three time Demo cratic candidate for President Mrs.

Rohde served as'United States minister to Denmark from 1933 to 1936, climaxing an eventful career as a war nurse, lecturer, writer, univer sity teacher and member of Congress. She returned to Copenhagen this month to thank King Fred erik for a medal he bestowed on her earlier this year. She was admitted to a hospital last week suffering from heart trouble. Doctors said death was due to coronary thrombosis. Returns to America Mrs.

Rohde was appointed to the Copenhagen post in 1933 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She gave it up in 1936 following her third marriage, at the age of 50, to Boerge Rohde, a captain in the palace guard of the late King Christian X. The couple returned to America, where Mrs. Rohde resumed her writing and lecturing career.

Mrs. Rohde was born in Jacksonville, 111. Her father moved the family to Nebraska and as a girl she accompanied him on campaign trips. She was educated in public schools in Lincoln, Monticello seminary at Godfrey, 111., and the University of Nebraska. Her first marriage was to William Homer Leavitt, an artist, ending in divorce in 1909.

In 1910, she married Ma. Reginald Owen, of the British army's royal engineers, He died in 1927. Two Terms in Congress Mrs. Rohde began lecturing in 1919 and later taught public speaking at the University of Miami. Her students campaigned for her when she ran for Congress.

She held a Florida seat from 1929 to 1933, the first woman representative from the "old Mrs. Rohde was the mother of four children. Ruth and John Bryan were children of her first marriage. Reginald Bryan and Helen Rudd were children of Maj. Owen.

SMILIN' ED DIES; HAD CHILD SHOW ON AIR 32 YEARS Newport Beach, July 26 Special James Ed- Smilin Ed McConnell, 62, whose show for children had been on radio for 32 years, was found dead Saturday in his cabin cruiser, docked not far from his home. The coroner's office said he apparently -died of a heart attack Friday night. Associates said McConnell had the oldest sponsored act in radio. He also had a show on television.

His manager said the shows will continue from a backlog that bad been taped and filmed for radio and tele vision. McConnell, a 6 foot, 250 pound entertainer, played the piano, sang songs, and told comic incidents and tales of adventure.
