7-45. A Great Determination Rev. Colder. JEHOVAH Mrs. Gertrude Griggins, 42, of 1257 Arthur a divorcee and secretary, reported missing Wednesday, was found dead yesterday in the basement of her home.

She was seated in a clothes basket, fully dressed with hat and coat on and she held an unlighted cigaret in her fingers. No marks of violence were found and the cause of death was not immediately learned. Coroner Brodie ordered a chemical analysis of stomach contents when police reported a prescription for 100 tablets of codeine missing. Mrs. Griggins lived with a sister.

of 4714 Bishop slashed her throat with a butcher knife last night after she and her husband, William, 33, quarreled in their home, police said. Mrs. Kurnath, not severely Injured, was taken to County hospital and her husband was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge. Last November Kurnath, an convict, was acquitted on a charge that he murdered his mother, Rose, 67, in her home. Kurnath testified his mother fell as they quarreled and was fatally' injured when her head struck a stove.
