The circular instructions of the lith January, 1S51, de- signating certain routes for the transportation of im- i ported merchandise from certain ports of entry on the seaboard to certain interior ports, under the iBth sec- of Uie act of 8th September, 1350, are hereby fun her modified, as follows, to wit: From Baltimore as a port of importation.

Tor Pittsburg. Wheeling, Cincinnati, Louisville and St. Louis, imported merchandise may the provisions of the lfth section of the act of 28th September, 1850, and in 1 compliance with the regulations prescribed in the cir- 1 culur instructions of the 18th January, 1851, be trans- I ported to the above specified ports, by the following routes, 10 wii 1st. To Ilarrishurg via the ''Baltimore and Susquehanna Railrond," ana to Pittsburg by the "Pennsylvania thence by the Ohio river to Wheeling, Cincinnati, or Louisville, and tlience to St. Louis by the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.

2nd. To Columbia, via the "Baltimore and Susquehanna Railroad," thence by the "Pennsylvania Canal" to Hollidaysburg, thence by the "Alleghany Portage Railroad" to Johnstown, thence to Pittsburg by the 'Pennsylvania Canal." and thence to either of" those, ports as before mentioned. 3d. To Pittsburg by either of the routes described hence by the "Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad" to Crestline: thence to Cincinnati by tne "Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Railroad," and thence to Louisville or St. Louis by the Ohio, or by the Ohio and Mississippi rivers.

4th. To Crestline as before described; thence by the "BeRefontaineand Indiana Railroad' to Union; thence by the "Indianapolis and Bellefontaine Railroad" to Indianapolis; thence by the "Madison and Indianapolis Railroad" to Columbus. thence by the "Jeffer-sonville Railroad" to Jeffersonville, and by Ferry across the Ohio river to Louisville, and thence to St. Louis by the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. 5th.

To Wheeling via Uie "Baltimore and Ohio Railroad;" thence to Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, or Louisville by tiie Ohio, or to St. Loui3 by the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. The foregoing routes are additional to those designated in the circular of the 18th January, 1661. The Department has no authority to include in this arrangement any other interior ports than those specially named in the iPth section of the act of 28th September, 1850. No overland routes from ports of entry or the seulxwrd can at this time be prescribed for merchandise destined for Nashville, or Natchez.
