Chief of Police 1929 Auto Licenses To Be Red On Black Throughout State Springeld, 111., Sept. 3--Illinois 1SI2D automobile license plates wil! be- bright rod numcralstm a field of black. Several weeks ago the selection of white letters on a field of green was made, but upon investigation it was learned several states in the central west had selected similar designs, and the change was made to prevent confusion. During the present year considerable confusion resulted from Missouri selecting a cnlor scheme similar to that of Illinois in 1927. Many reports were made that autoists were carrying 1027 plates in April, May and even later in the year, but on investigation it was usually discovered the person reporting failed to observe or it would have been seen the platr wag somewhat wider than that used in Illinois in 1927, and did not carry an outline map of Illinois which was a distinctive feature of thp Illinois plates in 1927.

Cost of the Illinois plates for 1929 will be a little more than eight and one-half cents a pair. This cost is believed to be the lowest in the history of the state. in In hla first a Miiige fo the congress of republic of Texan, In December, 1838. I'renident Mlra- beau It. H. Gors is anxious to have the building near completion before cold weather sets in. Tuesday morning saw quite a number of our little tots on their way to their first day of school. To many of these little folks the arrival of the time when they must cease their playful hours, came, no doubt, as it did to most of us, as a time when they give up joyful freedom for the scnool room. No doubt many were reluctant about entering the school, with a halt afraid feeling.

However, after once inside and the capable teachers, in a parental way, assign them their seats, they become more at ease. By the time the first day of their school life is over, the majority of them feel quite satisfied to gladly accept this new life, and will enjoy their play hours all the more. The older ones also resumed their studios Tuesday at SL Paul's Ev. Lutheran parochial school, und at the public school, while thp graduates of last year classes, and other high school scholars began a new year of learning at Arlington Heights high school. We wish thorn all every success, and we feel that, as in the past, so in the future, our scholars will keep the name of Mt.
