DECEMBER 1S30 MASON CITY GLOBE-GAZETTE CHANGES URGED IN DISTRICTING Hollingsworth Gives Support to Highway Patrol to Thwart Robbers. BOONB, Dec. 3. of the state senatorial and judicial districts is urged 'by Representative Frank Hollingsworth of Boone in addition to a new division of congressional districts. i If Hollingsworth is reappointed Chairman of the political and judicial districts committee of the house, he will be In close contact with the congressional reapportlon- ment 'program.

His name, however, has been presented as a candidate for the speakership of the house, as one of the seven republicans seeking the post. "I in favor of retaining as far as possible the identity of the present congressional districts," Hol- Hngsworth said, "but two must be dropped out. The nine must each contain a population of approximately 275,000. "Tha tenth district in population is about right as it is, but the others must be changed. I believe that while we are changing things around, we should also redistrict the senatorial and judicial districts." A state hig-hway patrol established, Hollingsworth believed, because "there are too many highway casualties, too many bank robbers escape, and too much liquor is transported over our new paved roads." H. Bell Was Born on Boat as Parents Were Coming to United States. WHITTEMORE, Dec. services for Charles H. Bell 4 were held at the Lutheran church with the Rev.

William Faulstick officiating. Mr. Bell died after a stroke of paralysis. He was born Nov. 17, 1866 in the ship while his parents were crossing the Atlantic.

His widow and three children, Kdward, Elmer and Adelia, survive, together with two brothers, H. F. and J. F. Bell and six sisters, Mrs.

Seventy- eight counties were organized when the gioup sang at the Iowa, State fair in August. Four National Groups Will Meet Dec.

29 to 31 at Iowa University IOWA CITY, Dec. of the University of Iowa will be populated by hundreds of professors and scientists instead of students Dec. 29- to 31 when four conventions of national scope are held here. For on those dates, members of these organizations will assemble: American Psychological association: American Philological association; Acheological Institute of America; and the College Art association. In addition, Iowa teachers of classical subjects will.meet for their annual conference.

The organizations for psychologists, archeologists, and philologists have an aggregate membership of 5,700 persons. Largest of the trio is the archeological group, with 3,500 members. Molsberry's father VIotorists Are Warned of Monoxide Gas Poison Dangers in Automobiles DES MOINES, Dec. 3. were warned by the state department of health against starting their cars In closed garages because of the danger of monoxide gas poisoning. The gas is colorless, odorless, and gives no warning until its victims fall, unconscious, the department said. It is heavier than air and therefore densest near the floor.

The department also cautioned against the use of car heaters that depend on the engine fan for the circulation of warm air. Under normal conditions of the open road, the statement said, this method is not hazardous, but in cities under conditions of slowly moving traffic it becomes a potential danger. A window should be kept open In such cases, the department advised. ALBERT SMITH, ENGINEER, DIES Man Who Worked on Railroad When Built Is Buried at Iowa Falls. IOWA FALLS, Dec.

body of Albert B. Smith, 63, was brot here from Des Motnes Tuesday for interment in Union cemetery. Mr. Smith was one of the old engineers on the Rock Island. He went with the short line when it was first built and was known as the Des Moines, Iowa Falls and Northern.

When the road was purchased by the Rock Island lines, he retained his seniority rights is an engineer. His death was due to heart disease. He is survived by his wife. Much Furniture Sold on Installment Plan in Northwest States MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 3.

OT--Approximately two-thirds of all retail furniture sales in the northwest are on the installment plan, the Federal Reserve bank of Minneapolis found after a four year survey. Compiling records of larger furniture stores in the district, which includes North and South Dakota, Minnesota ant Montana, the bank estimated tota furniture sales for the first 10 months of 1930 at $2,852,000 com pared with $3,737,130 during the same period last year. Installment sales of i during the first 10 months of thl year were given as $1,865,640, 65.4 per cent of the total sales fo that period.
