A telegram received by Harry Odle, local president, asked tha clothing suitable for the use of the girls who, nearly all of them, los their entire belongings in the fire A box will be sent from Mason City Saturday. (JP--Loss estimated between (40,000 and $50,000 was caused early today when about half of the section of this town was destroyed by fire which is believed to have started from an overheated stove in the Pech garage. -Struble has only'a bucket brigade and unable to get assistance from nearby towns. Al! the burned places were on one side of Main street, and- in the block, except a private home in the other side of the street.

The ollowing businesses were destroyed: cafe, Pettes hardware store, Smith pool hall, Charles Lange's ire shop, Pech garage, the town and the home of W. Diederman. 4-H Girls Will Have Until Feb. 1 to Submit Schedule The girls 4-H clubs have 'until Feb. 1 in which to submit the 12 month schedule of programs to the office of the Farm Bureau, it was stated at the county agent's office Thursday.

Sixty-four cadets, including Alonzo Parhnm, Negro of Chicago, were honorably discharged, from the United States Military Academy today because of failure to pass midterm academic examinations, Maj. Gen. William R. SmiUi, superintendent, Examinations were held for 137 cadets who were deficient in one or more subjects.

General Smith said. Forty-eight of those who failed to pass were members of the freshman class and the remainder wore sophomores.
