Information, Lawndale S039. SEATTLE, WASH, MAYOR, IS DEAD i Official Acts Attract I National Attention. Seattle. April 18. (IP) Mayor John Francis Dore, 56 years old, died here to-nfeht.

Alexander Peacock said the mayor died of heart disease I i- cated by blood puisumus. Dore had been 111 since late last year. A active political campaigner, he was able to make only three speeches in February fore 1 he mavoraltv tri- mary and failed of renomination. Mayor J. F.

Dore. Shortly after the campaign he went to Phoenix, for a rest. His condition became worse, and he spent twelve clays in a Los Angeles hospital before recovering enough to come home two weeks ago. His Illness Persists. Since his return he had been ill his home with physicians constantly in attendance.

Saturday night lie had a relapse. Dore was perhaps Seattle's most spectacular mayor. His hair trigger mind and dynamic personality attracted national attention to him, first as one of the most brilliant criminal lawyers on the Pacific coast, and later as mayor of Seattle during two turbulent terms. Born in Boston, Dec. 11, 1881, he was brought here at the age of 12.

He' later studied at Phillips-Exeter academy and Harvard. Returning here in 1903, he became a Dolice reporter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and later worked for the Times and Star. In his spare time he studied law and was admitted to the barin 1910. Sensational Court Tactics. His sensational courtroom tactics resulted in three separate attempts to disbar him on various charges.

Each time he won vindication. In 1932 he was elected mayor on a platform "Move the City Hall Out of the Labor Temple." He was renominated in 1934, but a business-labor coalition defeated him. He effected an alliance with Dave Beck, western head of the Teamsters' union and campaigned in 1936 on a 100 per cent labor Dore was elected, defeating the present mayor elect, Arthur B. Langlie, and he forthwith reversed his 1932 slogan by "Putting the Labor Temple Back in the City Hall." Tmua dUzdio BY LARRY WOLTERS. Off the scratchpad: Harold Lloyd, bespectacled comedian, is in a huddle over a comedy series for radio, It will be his first regular airshow.

The You Said It review, which had a local outlet tWEBM for the first time last night, is to undergo alterations. Boris Karloff has collaborated with Arch Oboler on the Lights Out opus for tomorrow night. The piece was in-spireded by Moussorgsky's weird composition, "Night on Bald Mountains." Karloff returns to Hollywood after this broadcast. Snow White Adriana Caselotti was not allowed to go through with her scheduled performance on Prof. Kaltenmeyer's Kindergarten Saturday.

Walt Disney and sponsors of Mickey Mouse, it seems, brought pressure to bear on NBC because they were using a "Snow White" from Hollywood on the Mickey Mouse Easter show. So Mis3 Caselotti, who had already appeared over W-G-N-Mutual, made a guest appearance on the WBBM-CES Week-end-Potpourri. Speaking of Easter, Mrs. Hed-wig Easter's description of the parade at Sandwich, NBC was livelier than that portion of the broadcast that came from New York. Mrs.

Easter was amply prepared, having apparently found out in advance what every resident of the town planned to wear. Her comment was sprightly. A year ago Judy Starr's singing career was almost ended in a motor accident. Tonight- she the singing headliner of the new Time" to Shine show featuring Hal Kemp's orchestra. She is replacing Maxine Gray who had to pass up this assignment to convalesce further from in-juries incurred in a wreck.

Time is 9 p. m. on WBBM. Bob Ripley has scheduled the Mayor of Hell Norway on his broadcast Tuesday, April 26. Notre Dame's Universal Alumni night celebration will be broadcast on WENR from 10:15 to 10:45 next Monday with Father John O'Hara, president, the University Glee club and symphony orchestra, Coach Elmer Layden, and John Mc-Cormack, the tenor, contributing.

Fibber McGee and company will take a nine week vacation starting June 26. Sponsor will stay on the air through the summer, possibly moving their daytime show, Attorney-at-Law with Jim Ameche, into the gap. Cecil Underwood, production director, has just returned from Hollywood and has an idea or two he picked up in the west for temporary replacements. Rush Hughes, son of Rupert Hughes, radio commentator of San Francisco, stopped off here yesterday and devoted his usual 15 minutes Hughes Reel to tributes to various Chicago personalities. Among those saluted were the late Jimmy Durkin, robustious head copy boy of The Trtsune, and Genevieve Forbes Her-i woman, reporter.

On his broadcast at 3:30 today WMAQ Hughes interview Barbara Luddy, California actress who made good in Chi-o radio circles. WHfiT PUTTERINQ AROUND I DO HERE DOESN'T EARN WHAT I EAT- ICKNTKAL STANDARD TIME.J ON SHOKT HAVES. BERLIN 5:00 p. m. Special concert ol light music.
