TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 1938 MASON CITY GLOBE-GAZETTE Young People to Open 2 Day Convention SESSIONS WILL BE AT CHURCH Annual Concert Is Under Direction of Dr. Carlo Sperati RIDGEWAY--The Decorah Circuit Young People's Societies'will hold their regular convention al the Madison Lutheran church of which the Rev. M. B. Quill Is the pastor, next Saturday and Sunday.

The Rev. Elling Ramsey at Claremont will deliver the opening sermon. There will also be afternoon and evening sessions. On Sunday morning the Hev. Solem of Osage will preach the sermon.

During the afternoon the Choral Union, consisting of choirs in the Decorah circuit, will present the annual concert Under the direction of Dr. Carlo A. Sperati. There i will be delegates and visitors from all over the circuit. The Madison Ladies Aid society will serve meals on both days.

Misa Anna Quanrud is the president of-the circuit and will deliver an address at the beginning of the convention. Miss Maryls Melaas, the president of the Madison Young People's society, will bid the "convention welcome. Final Dividend to" Be Given by Bank Trustees, Ridgeway RIDGEWAY A dividend of will be paid out by the trustees of the First State bank of Ridgeway, E. H. Albertson, Albert Koch and William Soukup, Thursday at the Farmers State Bank.

Services Held for Pioneer of Ledyard LEDYARD Funeral services were held for Conrad Blome, a pioneer of Ledyard, who died from a stroke at his home in Des Moines. Edward Mehl. Clarion Man Denies Passing Stop Sign; Trial Is Wednesday CLARION Clifford Hood of Clarion appeared in Justice Glen C. Oldham's court Monday charged with passing a slop sign. Hood entered a plea innocent and trial was set for Wednesday. He'furn- ished a bond of $50.

Hood was arrested July 29 by Patrolman W. W. Carter. HOLD RITES FOR FORMER MAYOR Richard Bucknell Public Figure in Decorah for 25 Years DECORAH Funeral services were held Monday for Richard Bucknell, 72, barber, and one of Decorah's best known citizens, who died Saturday at a hospital in Iowa City. The services were held at the Brandt Funeral home with the Rev.

A. J. Kindred Burial was made in Phelps cemetery. Mr. Bucknell had been a public figure in city affairs for nearly a quarter of a century.

He served as mayor of the city of Decorah and for several years served as alderman of the third ward and also alderman at large. His wife survives, also three children, Richard of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ed Stoddard and Merton Bucknell of Decorab. Return to St. Paul PROTIVIN--Mr.

and Mrs. W. C. Dostal returned home from St. Paul, Friday, where they spent a few days.

Babcock and children, Oliver and Beverly and Harwood Spayde of Perry. Profuse floral offerings testified to the regard of many friends. Ward Palmer Bound to Jury on Charge of Drunken Driving HAMPTON--Ward Palmer was bound over to the grand jury bv Justice W. R. Rule Monday on a charge of driving while intoxicated and was put in the county jail in default of $1,000 bond.

By 1930, the number of women office workers outnumbered men, with 51.5 per cent of the total. Services Planned on Wednesday for Mrs. Oswald, Rake R. A. Oswald, G5, died at her home Sunday evening after being critically ill the past month from diabetis.

Mrs. Oswald has been in poor health the past few years. Mrs. Oswald came here from Norway after her second marriage and had lived in Rake the past seven years. She is survived by her husband; one son, John Norland of Chicago, three stepchildren; Anne Oswald of Chicago, 111., Rasmus Oswald of Anoka, Wilburt Oswald of Austin, and several relatives in Norway.

Funeral services will be held in the Liberty Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon. ACHIEVEMENT DAY THURSDAY Butler County Event Will Be. Judged by Nelle Thompson, Ames ALLISON Achievement day for 4-H girls, of Butler county will be held Thursday at the Allison high school. This meeting is an all-day event which will show the achievements of the year's work; also to select representatives to participate in contests at the state fair, cattle congress and county fair!
