7:30 BUY, From Bl As for Channel 24's impending format change, spokesman IJrad Foltyn says beginning Monday, the hours from midnight to 6 p.m. will be devoted daily to Home Shopping Network-2, just as it! is shown on the cable network, offering continuous sales. More extensive airing of the marketing programs is pending-FCC approval of the station's sale, he says. Earlier this summer, it-was announced that station founder Family Media Inc. had agreed, to make Channel 24 one of a number of independent broadcast stations which HSN has been buying around the country.

i With only one exception, the current nightly lineup that starts with "The Dick Van Dyke Show" at 6 and ends with "The 700 CluV at 11:30 will continue to air, Foltyn says. The exception is the addition of "The Honeymooners" at 6:30 p.m. to replace the first of two episodes of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" that have been airing back-to-back. .1 At the moment, only five more broadcasts of Channel 54's Direct Sales Network are scheduled, including tonight's edition (with guest host Art James, the veteran game-show figure) and additional shows Oct. 21, 23, 28 and 30.

But if successful, says spokesman Robin Larkins, the tele-marketing show will become the centerpiece of a multi-media direct marketing effort that will include mail-order catalogs and fitter sales inventories as well. The experiment is a joint venture between Larry Magill, president of Philadelphia's Direct Response Network, and the Silo Division of Cyclops a national applianceelectronics store chain also based in Philadelphia. Apparently because of its commercial-station scheduling, an effort was made on Tuesday's premiere to make the sale seem more like a real show. Arte Johnson of "Laugh In" fame was the guest host, sitting in a talk-show easy chair on a warehouse-like set with stacks of boxes bearing such brand names as JVC and Sanyo behind him. He provided some lame jokes while selling things, and co-hostess Maxine Graboyes was all business, describing items and helpifig models show off clothing and jewelry.

What was for sale? Jewelry, women's clothing, electronics, knives, an encyclopedia of dictionaries "I really love the English language, and I know a lot of you do, too," said the apparently shameless Johnson and even a workbox full of nuts, bolts and washers for the home repairman. Prices ranged from $9.95 to more than $150, although most items were in the $60 range, and prices were said to represent savings of usually about 50 to 60 percent of retail. The trouble is, most of the items were not brand-name products, so prices were hard to compare. Matching men's and women's watches, for example, were said "to look just like a Rolex or Seiko," bat carried the brand name Geneva. You can't judge a watch by what it looks like.

One brand-name item, an electronic device called a Rabbit that allows a single VCR to send signals to any TV in the house, was being sold for $79.50. A telephone check revealed the same item sells in a Baltimore area discount electronics chain for $89. Specifications on most items were minimal, even as to clothing size options, but viewers were offered a 30-day, money-back guarantee. Larkins says no figures were immediately available to show how many Baltimore-area viewers actually ordered products during'the sell-a-thon. OGDGD Wheel Of Fortune.

effects such as flushing, faintness, violent pulsations and headaches as if the top of the head were being lifted off. Blood pressure readings confirmed that the drug lowered blood pressure. Dr. Murrell found that not only did the frequency of attacks decrease when taking the drug, but immediate relief was obtained when the drug was taken at the time the patient was having chest pains. Like yourself, many have considered nitroglycerine to be a tried and true friend.

I Dear Dr. Lafia: I'm considering breastfeeding my baby. Is there anything to the claims that when you do, your child is In less danger of catching all kinds of infections? Mrs. O. Dear Mrs.

There's something in the mother's milk that helps protect the newborn, not only when they are helpless infants, but later on in life. One study indicated that breastfed babies developed middle ear infections one-fourth as often as those who were fed by formula. Dear Dr. Lafia: I've been referred to a urologist who makes a Dear Dr. Lafia: I have angina.

My doctor keeps up with the new remedies. For example, in addition to using nitroglycerine for the chest pain, he has prescribed what he calls beta blockers. He says these will slow the heart and strengthen it. As a result, I've had less need for nitroglycerine. Instead of dissolving as many as a dozen tablets under my tongue on physically active days, I'm down to as few as one or two tablets a day.

In spite of the new drugs, I still consider nitroglycerine a tried-and-true friend. Without it I wouldn't have been able to carry on in my business or my golf game. How old is nitroglycerine and how long has it been around? Mr. B. Dear Mr.

An old friend it is. It has been around at least a century and a half. In an article in Connecticut Medicine, Dr. Martin Duke details some of its history. In 1847, Dr.

Constantin Hering of Philadelphia's Hahnemann Medical School, developed a sublingual preparation of nitroglycerine. He called it Glonoin and used if effectively in patients. But it wasn't until 1897 that Dr. William Murrell of London wrote a series of four articles for Lancet medical magazine on "Nitroglycerine as a Remedy for Angina Pectoris." He described some side It -If For Mrs. Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine that can velop into a permanent crippling dl ability if left untreated.
