The following resolutions, as reported by the committee, were then taken up for discussion, and, after an able land interesting debate between Messrs. Resolved, That have learned with equal surprise and regret, thut a committee of the House of Representatives of this Territory has recommended the payment, by the Territory, out of the proceeds of sales of the canal lands, of a large cinim, purporting tn be claim of the Milwaukee nnd Rock River Canal Company. Resolved, That we are not informed of any legal demand which this Canal Company hjs, either against the Territory of tlie monif3 arising from sales uf the Canal Lands; and we deem it extraordinary, that the com- rnittee, in reporting iu favor of hitch -matoj claim, should not have enlightened their con- eompleti stituents as to its amount, the manner in which ln it accrued, ami the items of i it is com- 1 ri posed.
