"One of two things would bo likeJv to result: "Enterprise would be stifled, accumulations of propei ty would be difcsipatcd, and a condition of depression would become chronically progressive, with a falling standard of living, economic and a great poverty on the part of the people.

"The other alternative would be the creation of a -class of great weatth, who would have a large control of the government because it would be dependent on their for its suppoit. That would be the re-creation of the age of overlords. The rest of us would be reduced to dependency. In either case. the people would lose.

Miss Marguerite Mor- the -winner in Potter County Authorities Arc Searching for a Fire Bug.

The Offord home on the Roosevelt Highway, two miles east of Galeton, was destroyed by fire, which was discovered by motorists. The Galeton Fire Department responded to the alarm, but there was nothing they could do when they arrived as the house was practically consumed. At first it was feared that the two brothers, Sam and Mitch Offord, had been burned, as they were not at the scene of the fire, and as soon as the ashes were cool enough the next morning, search was made. In the afternoon they came in from Kettle Creek, where they had been on a ginseng expedition. The brothers lived in the house by themselves, making their living by fishing, trapping and digging ginseng.

They lost all their belongings and their home, with but little insurance. This fire, following so closely after the fire on River street in Galeton and the Cottage Hotel fire at Germania. has started thp authorities investigating the possibility of incendiary origin. In each ease the occupants were away, and the fires have all started inside and gavp gained great headway before beine discovered. The striking similarity of thr three fires and their following one another Ro closely makes it soem as though it would bf impossible for them nil tx have been accidental fires, especially at this time of the year when no fires arc left In the Leader- Dispatch.
