Albans naval hospital. His wife, Mrs. Gertrude C. Hornbostel, who survives him, contracted leprosy in a Japanese prison camp in World War II but has been pronounced cured. Maj.

Hornbostel spent three years with his wife after the war in a leper colony at Carville, La. Since 1949 the major and his wife lived in North Bell-more, L. I. There they continued a campaign, begun earlier, to fight popular misconceptions about Hansen's disease. He was 60 when the United States entered World War II, and was unable to rejoin the marines, but became a in the army.

He was captured in 1942 when Balaan fell. Dr. Matilda 0. Lichner I Services for -Dr. Mathilda Osborne Lichner, of Ocean City, N.

a practicing physician in Chicago and member of the medical staff of Illinois Bell Telephone company from 1913 until her retirement in 1939, will be held at 11 a. m. tomorrow in Ocean City. She was the widow of Dr. Samuel Lichner, physician and minister, who died in 1950.

Mrs. Lichner died Sunday in Atlantic City, N. J. The couple moved from Chicago to Ocean City in 1939. Mrs.

Paul The Waiter Ricca, crime syndicate mobster, has "wilfully refused" an order by Federal District Judge Walter J. La Buy to answer 103 questions concerning activities in Italy before he entered the United States, Assistant United States Atty. John II. Bickely Jr. said yesterday.

A number of the. questions dealt with two killings. Bickley filed a petition asking that the federal District court admit the questions as fact in deportation proceed ings scheduled to start Monday. Bickley said the government is ready for trial. Judge La Buy issued his order March 27 and gave Ricca three days to comply.

Ricca on Feb. 20 declined to answer the questions on the ground that the answers might incriminate him. April 3, 1S57 BOMBER FALLS AND EXPLODES; 11 ABOARD DIE Dives In Field Minutes After Take-Off Chincoteague, April 2 A long range navy bomber with engines sputtering smashed into a plowed field and exploded today, killing 11 aboard it. The plane crashed minutes after its takeoff in a misty drizzle from Chincoteague naval air station. The twin-engine propeller-driven Neptune carrying two officers and nine navy enlisted men appeared to be groping for an emergency landing, because of power failure at a 4 "Vr 1NRX3.

Ham' lin testified yesterday to seeing an automobile driven by Richard Dombeck, 16, of 8823 Ewing Skokie, plunge over the curb into a group of school children last Sept. 5. Two sisters, Janette Grif fiths, 7, and Alexandria, 5, of 4436 N.

Kasson were killed. Dombeck, under indictment on two charges of reckless homicide, is on trial before a jury in the court room of Judge Thomas E. Kluczynski in connection with Janette's death. 12 Routed, Infant Saved in Fire on South Side About a dozen persons were routed and three were rescued in a fire that did an estimated $3,500 damage to the third floor of the four story apartment building at 1348 Culler- ton st. last night.

Among those carried out by firemen were Arthur Rodriguez, 7 months old, and Arthur Erickson, 54, partially paralyzed.
