DeHart, teacher at Fruitvale School and scoutmaster of the newly organized Troop 42 of Fruitvale, announced today that 14 Scouts received their tenderfoot badges at recent investiture ceremonies. Jim i and Joe Johnson, Jimmie McClure, Alden Lelpold, Floyd Parsons and Robert Unruh.

Paul McGrath is a transfer from Troop 7. Johnny Allen and Gordon Turner are work- Ing on their tenderfoot tests and hope to become Scouts soon. The members of the troop committee are E. W. Hurley, chairman.

Funeral Saturday for Mrs. Howell TAFT, Oct. services for Mrs. Anna Kathryn Nisson Howell, 51, of Taft, will be held tomorrow at 10 a. m.

at the Erlckson and Brown Funeral Home. The Reverend Aubrey Bray will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Bakersfield. Airs. Howell died in Taft Community Hospital Wednesday morning, a few hours after she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage while attending a party at the Knights of Pythias hall.

Mrs. Howell and her husband. Jay A. Howell, came to Taft in 1913. For the past 20 years they made their home at the Western water plant on the Taft-Bukcrsfield highway.

The deceased Is a member of Laurel Temple No. 80, Pythian Sisters, and Taft Rebekah Lodge No. 343. She is survived by her husband, four children. Walter K.
