Mr. Davis served as Batavia mayor from 1938 to 1945. and when defeated for re-election in the, latter year, moved from Batavia. He sold several pieces of property, and traveled extensively for some time afterward. He was born in Batavia, and for years before his retirement worked as a construction superintendent handling construction of windmills, railroad water tanks, and reservoir tanks.
