Dear Ears Here's your letter and it may interest you to know the mail Is running one hundred to one in favor of your side. It never dawned on me that so many people were fascinated by "This is your captain speaking. So hear this, fellas, keep up those chatty comments, the flying public loves it. Dear Ann Landers Several years ago my husband passed away. The boy next door cut my grass, shoveled the now and did many small chores.

I tried to pay him but he refused to accept a penny. I bought him small gifts at Pink Lady Ball Listed The Auxiliary of the Anne Arundel General Hospital will hold its annual Pink Lady Ball February 24 at the Medford Armory, Annapolis. TV Actor Douglas Kennedy Endures In Lawman Roles WARM SKI OUTFIT One of P. new ski coordinates, designed by Hans Heitsch, of Sweden, is a blen of traditional Swedish syle with the total look knickers, jump suits for a warm, eye-catching outfit. Eye-Catching Styles Now Made For Skiers Dear Ann Landers You certainly did disappoint me when you agreed with that sourball who said he was sick and tired of airline pilots who behave like frustrated disc jockeys. You went along with his notion that a pilot should Ann Landers greet the passengers and then shut up for the duration of the trip. You probably do a lot of flying and take plenty of work along to keep you occupied on the plane, but I'm a small-town girl who considers a plane trip an exciting adventure.

I enjoy it when the pilots are chatty. I like to have them point out places of interest and make a few amusing remarks along the way. It's also reassuring to get the weather report and to be informed on flying conditions as we go along. So please, Ann Landers, stay at Warner Bros, he played in "The Adventures of Don Juan," starring Errol Flynn, and was featured in a number of Joel McRae pictures. Kennedy joined another big company the United States Army 1940.

When he returned to civilian life in 1945, he began where he left off by landing a good part in Warner's "To Have and Have Not," starring Humphrey Bo-gart. Now, 23 years later, as Sheriff Madden of "The Big Valley," Douglas Kennedy has assured his reputation as the best defender of law and order in the history of Stockton, Cal. If an actor in television has cause to rejoice or complain about being typecast, it's Douglas Kennedy, who plays Sheriff Madden in ABC-TV's "The Big Valley." The tall and handsome former army major has been a lawman in the series since its first season. His first appearance was as a marshal. Three episodes later he took on the recurring role of the sheriff, who appears in episode, "Fall of a Hero," of the long-running ABC-TV series. Ten years ago, Kennedy had his own series on another TV network, starring as a western marshal.

He also played a lawman, a running role, in the original "Dragnet" television series. As a film actor, Kennedy is perhaps best remembered for his appearance in Cecil B. DeMille's 1939 production for Paramount, "Northwest Mounted Police," The role was a lawman. While Kennedy enjoys playing such parts, he also has had a variety of other acting assignments during his career, which started in the late 1930's. Although a diamond lead would have assured South's defeat, West made the natur-' al opening of the five of hearts the suit bid by his partner. East put up the queen and declarer won the trick with the king. It appeared likely, from West's double, that the latter had two sure trump tricks, so that, if South were to avoid a setback, he must find a way to dispose of his diamond loser. Only Hope Dummy's spade holding offered the only hope for obtaining a discard.

The ace of clubs was cashed first, thereby removing East's, lone trump. -The jack of spades was put through next and West ducked. A Fashion League TeatureJ Christmas and remembered him on his birthday, bnt all the while I kept thinking I would buy him a grand present when he married something he could use for a lifetime. I hit on the idea of saving coupons for silverware.

Many of my friends and the women I baby-sat for knew I was saving coupons and they turned theirs over to me. When I heard the boy had become engaged to a sweet, girl I was overjoyed. I had enough coupons for a complete service for twelve, plus all the extra pieces. I bought a lovely silver chest and felt so proud that I was able to give this young man such an elegant wedding gift. This morning I was absolutely floored.

The bride-to-be came to my home and dumped the silverware right on the living "room floor, chest and all. She said a friend had told her the silver was obtained with coupons but she did not believe it at first. When her friend proved it, she said she was so humiliated she broke down and cried. Then she cursed me for "making a fool of her." Ann, I am sick about this. I did not mean to make a fool of anyone.

I thought any young couple would be thrilled with the silver. I have nothing nearly so fine in my own home. Will you please tell me what to do? Was it wrong to give them this gift? I will apologize if you think I Dear H. The bride's performance was a shabby, ill-bred exercise in uncouth behavior. You owe her no apology.

If she should offer you an apology (after her fiance hears of this) I hope you will be generous and accept it, for the boy's sake. Publishers Hall Syndicate Tomorrow 7-HOUR By Gcrta Grudel skiing. They are not only stylish, but they also allow a greater freedom of movement for girls who really ski. By now it should come as no surprise that the majority of women who frequent ski resorts during the winter season don't really give much of a hoot about skiing. They're dragged there by husbands and boyfriends or by the happy prospect of meeting either.

Most women like to stay warm and cozy by a ski lodge fire, without going outdoors and running the risk of drizzly noses or fractured shin bones. Parkas, Jackets It was, undoubtedly, this sudden realization that made all the great sportswear houses turn up new and different styles for nonskiing snow bunnies. Along with McGregor, such firms as White Stag, Vener, Iselin, Spinnerin and Sport Obermey-er are all working overtime to create clothes that will win attention in a raging blizzard or at a snow lodge dance. Mr. Fred of the well-known fun fur house they make chic fur dresses and such has produced a line of luxury Ski clothes were once strictly practical: fuzzy sweaters and big woolly jackets.

It didn't matter how a girl looked as long as she was warm all over. Last year the style for skiing was the total look, with matching tops and bottoms in glorious, gay colors that are still available. This year complete fashion has come to ski clothes and it's seen in such items as miniskirts worn over knit ski pants. Novel knickers worn with long stockings and one-piece jump suits are all making the scene on the slopes this year. Hip-Riders Stylish The new ideas come mostly from Italy and Sweden.

France, which will host the Winter Olympics at Grenoble in February, also is contributing the French master touch to total feminine styles. Knitted stocking caps are no longer worn just to keep the ears warm. They are colorful and eye-catching, too. Top American sportswear manufacturers also are contributing to fun styles for skiing. McGregor is now producing hip-riders for priced parkas and hooded jackets designed for raves in any snow storm.

Leading importers, particularly Jersey Modeller, have come out big with unique patterns and styles. Jersey Modeller, represented in this country by the Distributing Company of New Jersey, has blended traditional Swedish styles with the now popular mini, for skiing, knickers, jump suits and knitted caps in all sizes and shapes. Major synthetic fiber manufacturers, such as duPont, J. P. Stevens, Chemstrand and Celanese, have made many of the new styles possible through unique new material that cuts down bulk and adds warmth and dryness.

It's the age of wonder fabrics, indoors or out. 1968, General Feature! Corporation Board To Meet The executive board of Triad Guild will meet at 8' P.M. February 8 at the home of Mrs. Bernard Gorban, 524 Nassau street. A general board meeting will follow.
