She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Liles. Surviving are her husband, Edward E. King; a daughter, Miss Pamela Long; and three stepchildren, Barbara Goldhardt and Mark and Kevin King, all of Columbus.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gahanna Community Church in Columbus. George S.Tompkins Services for George Shepard Tompkins, 51, Noel, who died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness, will be held at 2:30 p.m.

today at the Noel Methodist Church. The Rev. Chester Garver will officiate and burial will be in the Noel Cemetery under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home. Mr. Tompkins was born Dec.

7, 1922, in the state of Arizona and had lived in the Noel area 44 years. He was safety director and coordinator for Winston Industries. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War and was a retired first lieutenant and company commander in the National Guard. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Noel Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Tompkins; a son, Dennis, Route 2, Noel; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Davis, Joplin, and Mrs. Brenda Westfall, Miami; his mother, Mrs. Estella Tompkins, Southwest City; five brothers, Everette, Lawrence and Henry, all of Southwest City, Cecil, Gardner, Kan.

IX)UIS A Rocky Comfort man, John Edward Love, 21, was reported in critical condition Saturday in a Creve hospital following a car-truck accident in St. Louis County, about 4:30 a.m. Friday, and an Alton, III, man was killed in the accident.

Love was a passenger in a tractor-trailer unit driven by William Randolph Crawford, 27, Route 5, who received only minor injuries. Another passenger in the truck, Patricia Lee Popp, 18. Shawno, was treated at the Mr. and Mrs. Bill Powell, Neosho, have purchased the Smith Boarding Home at 419 N.

College and will take over operation of the home Monday, it was announced Saturday. The home was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. 0. H.

Johnston 64, Alton, 111., a passenger in a car driven by Mary Louise McCord, 55, also of Alton.

Mrs. McCord was treated and then released at the Creve Cour Hospital. According to the highway patrol, the accident occurred when the McCord car, southbound on 1-244, was struck in the left rear by the tractor-trailer unit, also southbound. Both vehicles overturned and slid off the west shoulder into a ditch. Cook Construction of Neosho, owned by Jim Cook, has been named a "Butler Builder" by Butler Manufacturing producer of pre-engineered building systems and components.

Newspapermen elected to state posts Two Newton County newspapermen were elected to posts with the Democratic Editors of Missouri at the annual summer meeting of the organization in Jefferson City Friday. Richard Bush, editor of the Neosho Daily News, was elected vice president of the organization while Bill Howsmon, editor and publisher of the Seneca News- Dispatch, was elected to the group's board of directors.

Mike Sell, of the Monroe City News, was named president of the editor's group. Featured on the program at the meeting were former U. S. Senator Frank Briggs; Dick Nacy, executive director of the Missouri Democratic Committee; and Mike Hobbs, immediate past president of the Missouri Young Democrats. NEOSHO BUILDING LOAN ASSN. Reports June tax collections PINEVILLE-McDonald County Treasurer Pansy Lynn has reported receipt of $4,016.60 in taxes collected during June.

The taxes are deposited into the following funds: Special road and bridge $370.83, county revenue $608.18, library $81.07, school district $2,574.36, junior college $382.16. Mrs. Lynn also reported receipt of the following fees: Recorder $1,015.80, Magistrate court $186, jury fund $47.90, Probate Court $79.84, prosecuting attorney $342.50, county clerk $36.90, and sheriff $315.25. McDonald County has also received $18,825 in revenue sharing funds for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. Piaster claim has been audited A disaster claim, submitted by the Village of Silver Creek in Newton County has been audited by Missouri State Auditor John D.

Ashcroft and sent to the Federal Disaster Assistance Administration. Silver Creek Village submitted a claim of $7,788.28 for expenditures incurred in performing approved work after last year's floods and high winds. Ashcroft's audit recommends the reimbursement as approved. The final decision will be made by the Office of Emergency Preparedness which will review the claim. South Side Square Neosho 451-0429 Noel aldermen hire dogcatcher NOEL The board of aldermen at Noel have approved appointment of -Lonnie Huckaby as part-time dogcatcher for the city of Noel.

The appointment was approved last week at a regular meeting of the board. The council will receive monthly reports on activities of the dogcatcher. In other action, the council voted to appoint Robert Evenson as city attorney for an annual retainer's fee of $250 plus $25 per hour for court work, and the salary of the city clerk and bookkeeper was raised by $15. Purchase of 250 feet of fire hose was approved. Two granted venue change Charles Michael Hawkins, 22 and Clinton Dixon, 21, both of Granby have been granted a change of venue to Newton County Circuit Court on charges of drunk and disorderly in public after a disqualification of the judge motion was filed in Newton County Magistrate Court.

They are scheduled to appear in circuit court at 1 p.m. April 12. Both are currently free on bond of $250 each. They are charged with disturbing the peace of Granby residents and being drunk and disorderly on July 6. Police probe Neosho thefts Neosho police are investigating the theft of several items from the home of Claudlne Fry, 306 Coler sometime last week, Taken from the home were a radio, an electric alarm clock, seven pairs of boys' jeans, and a photo album.
