The Courant learned Wednesday that the local station is rearing completion of negotiations with American Broadcasting Co. and Du Mont Television Network. When plans are completed. WGTH-TV is expected to announce which shows of each of the two networks it will carry. Prominent ABC shows already scheduled include: Dr IQ, Break the Bank, Feature Boxing (Wednesday and Saturday nights).

Local station officials were not available Wednesday for comment on the dual network affiliation. An ABC spokesman said, however, that ABC Wednesday sent an affiliation contract to WGTH-TV.

He would not comment further. At Du Mont, a spokesman said, "We are negotiating with them, (WGTH-TV) right now and expect the deal to be completed soon." WGTH TV announced last month it expected to begin operations July 12. It is understood, however, that some equipment has not yet been received and that operations may be delayed a couple of days.
