623 seph's cemetery. 6019-6037. terday In her home at 1150 Lake Shore drive after a brief illness. She was 81 years old. At her side were her sons, Stuart, retired investment banker; Waldo, an explorer, and Spencer II.

Logan. Mrs. Logan's husband died July 18, 1937. Mrs. Logan was the former Miss Josephine Hancock.

She was born In Chicago, a daughter of CoL John L. Hancock, twice president of the Chicago Board of Trade during the Civil war, and a personal friend of Abraham Donor to the Arts. For nearly two generations Mrs. Logan was active in the cultural and social life of Chicago, and with her husband was a bountiful donor both in money and in time to the many arts. Their Lake Shore drive home, housed one of the world's finest private art collections.

In 1916 the Logans together estab-lished an annual series of awards which since have enriched winners by approximately 590,000. Mrs. Logan was a talented poet, composer, and musician. One of her best known books of verse is "Lights and Shadows." Some of her lyrics have been set to music. One poem, "Greed, won for her the Linn A.
