THE LINCOLN STATE JOURIXAL. MUiNUAYi MAY 23, 1927. PEOPLE YOU KNOW. The annual initiation of Sigma XI, followed by the annual banquet, will take place at 6:30 Monday evening at the University club. Dr.

M. Mayhew, chief of staff at the Lincoln General Hospital, will be guest of honor, and places will be arranged for more than one hundred members and friends of the society. Prof. E. H.

Harbour will make the main address, and other numbers on the program will include music by Miss Ida Lustgarten, the presidential address by Prof. H. H. Marvin, and toasts by Charles Wible for the active members, Miss Evelyn Hesseltine for the graduate associate members, and Miss Wilma Searson for the senior associate members. New officers of the society, who have been elected for next year and will take office Monday evening, are Prof.

E. F. Schramm as president; Prof. M. H.

Swenk, vice-president; Prof. M. E. Gaba, treasurer; Prof. E.

N. Andersen, secretary; and Dr. R. H. Wolcott, councillor.

Professor and Mrs. A. A. Reed have returned from Superior where he gave the address at the commencement exercises of the high school on Friday evening. Many of the graduates were sons and daughters of former pupils of Professor Reed when he was superintendent of city schools at Superior twenty years ago.

The council is made up of two members each from the men's commercial club, the women's commercial club, Delta Sigma Pi and Alpha Kappa Psi. state parliamentarian for the Nebraska Federation of Women's clubs, stopped in Lincoln Monday on her way home from Davenport, la.

She acted as official parliamentarian of the Iowa Federation of Women's clubs, at the biennial convention held May 17 to 20 in Davenport. Mrs. B. A. George will entertain a company of friends on Tuesday at a luncheon at her home, South Twenty-sixth street.
