PAGE 31 Baltimore, Wednesday, EVENING SUN SPO TS seur s. It's All In The Viewpoint Football Guide Arrives With Gridiron Opening BY PAUL MENTON Sports Ediior, The Evening Sun That brown thing you see being thrown around on school fields these days is a football. Before you can turn around, the season will be on you. I say that with full knowledge the Orioles will be home tomorrow to finish out their regular campaign by Sunday afternoon with Newark and be guests that night at the 5th Regiment Armory at the biggest ofl-the-diamond gathering of the season. I say it with full knowledge that Maryland's fall racing season opens Monday at Laurel and that for six days a week until the last of November the thoroughbreds will bs running there and at Pimlico in some of the finest stakes of the year.

Nevertheless, the football season is almost upon us. A week from Friday night the scholastic season opens at the Stadium between Forest Park and Patterson Park. The next night Southern High and Calvert Hall are booked. After that it is only a matter of days before Navy, Maryland and Bainbridge open their new seasons, and the Variety Clubs of Baltimore and Washington stage their pro contest between the Washington Redskins and the Detroit Lions at the Stadium.
