Dr. Fred H. Leinbach, head of the University of Maryland's animal husbandry department, advised Maryland stockmen yesterday to give greater attention to care and breeding of horses, "for horsepower will have a more important place on farms of the State for a number of years." Dr.

Leinbach also called hog production a most important need. More than one third of the pigs raised in Maryland fail to reach weaning age, he said, explaining that a substantial increase in pork production could be obtained by better care and management without a large number of farmers going into the hog-raising business.
