Navy Casualties. Washington, March 1. -Three Missourians were among the 39 casualties of the U. S. naval forces made public today by the navy department.

Mrs Tucker gave birth to a child yesterday afternoon.

Her condition becarre serious and she was bi ought to the hospital here at 20 o'clock in the afternoon. Death occurred unexpectedly. Mrs. Tucker was born October 2, 1907. Before marriage she was Miss Essie Webb.

GALENA BRIEFS. YEAR'S ILLNESS FATAL TO EDNA MARIE KARCHER Carthage, Mo March has been received here of the death of Miss Edna Marie Karcher, 25 years old, which occurred Sunday, February 13, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M.

Karcher in Victorville, Calif. She had been ill more than a year. The Karcher family formerly lived in Carthage. Miss Karcher was graduated from the Carthage high school with the class of 1937 and later was employed in the office of Frank Birkhead, attorney. The Karchers moved to California in 1942.

(Jack) Woods, 57 years old, of Fairland, died at 1'30 o'clock this morning at the Pinnell apartments where he had stayed since late yesterday when he became suddenly ill while visiting in Miami. The cause of death was not immediately determined.

Mr. Woods lived in Miami for a number of years and worked as a carpenter. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearl Woods; a daughter, Mrs. Wyota DeHannas of Tulsa; a brother, L.

has been transferred from duty at the naval air station at Hutchinson, to Kansas State Teachers college, Pittsburg, for further academic training in connection with the navy's program to train seagoing airmen. Lawrence Ivan Brock, Galena route 1, and Lloyd Arthur Uber, Fourth and Bellevue, Galena, were sworn into the United States marine corps and left the Kansas City recruiting and induction station February 21, to begin their recruit training at the marine base at San Diego, Calif.
