,1 A.J. HoniKi 'To Oiir'Patrons. Wo beg leave to say to our patrons the time (one year) for which we leased the STASIABD Office is rapidly drawing to a close, and that in three weeks from to-day wo shnirbe called to publish our "lictinng Address." During the past year we have labored to tho best of our ability to make tho STANDARD a paper worthy the patronage of its wo hare failed to do to advance the best interest of tho paper or the public we hare been unable to perform, from pecuniary or other reasons. TVe dare labored under embarrassments, from the fact that when we took tho paper we found that Mr. Rowtsos had-been doing a long established credit business, and that tho people had been so thoroughly educated in that mode of dealing with the Printer," that we could not remedy the ceil in tho short time we were to publish the STAKDAHD.

We call it an evil because we most earnestly believe it to be such. An exclusive credit system is ruinous to any business, and in all business transactions of life'credit should he the exception and not the rule; and above all where credit is freely given, the debtor should consider himself under every honorable obligation to pay his indebtedness as soon as possible, and not let it run on year after year without giving it any attention. It costs as much money to publish a paper and send it to the subscriber one year, as it does for a farmer to raise a bushel of wheat and send it to market. This may be considered a strong statement by some persons, but we assure them that it is rather under than over the mark. Now, we would like to ask any farmer how long he could successfully till the soil, and trust out his products to Ton, DICE, and IlARitr, to a thousand or nore in number, and wait for hts pay until lie begins to think there is more prospect of hia hearing GABIHEL'S last trump, or of basking in the brightness of the morning, than to hear his Icbtors say: We have como to pay you what we orre." This is the case with the Publishers of the STANDARD, and here we nost "solemnly promise and swear" that each and every person who Owes us a dollar, more or and there ate over a THOUSAND of that sort on our hooks, who does not pay ug within the ntit three eecls, we shall placohis or her account in he Lands of a Justice of the Peace, with nstructions to issue a summon 1 immediately.

"The laborer is worthy of his have performed our part of he contract and ourpatrons mvit perform 'heiis. We have no special or favored; "riends in tlm matter. We are earnest in what we say. Tho anil influential have as good a right to pay us their ndcbtedncss as the poor, and it will be as much, or more, of satisfaction to us to bring them to "limerick." Reader, if you have an unsettled account at tho STAND A no oflice this notico is meant specially for ymi, and you must tho same immediately, or costs will be added. If you arc so situated th'at you cannot pay tho amount in money, give us your note.

Our Uoofo mutt be balanced! and our debtors must come to us as we cannot go to them. This is the first time our connection with tho STASDAKH that wo have suffered a "dun" to appear in its columns, and we trust that we have spoken thut plainly this time that all can understand ichat vie mean, and that we shall have no occasion to feel ourselves flighted in the matter. Pay lie printer, pny tho are words you've heard before, Many, manv times you've heard them, You may hear them many more If you long have owed the printer, Wrongfully withheld his dues, Then the more you need to hear them, Even with your daily newu You may soy Us but little What I owe wilt help him none," Yet, my friend, those very littles Help to make a larger sum. Many hundreds we can show you, Made by little sums like these, Sums that make the printer bankrupt, Wlulp you coolly take you ease. Little think you of tho labor, Of the toil and anxious care, Ever round the printers pathway, Hound the editorial chair.

Esrly morn and dewy evo Find them at their labor yet; Many times the midnight flicker Tells them thay must not forget That another day is coming. They must work on just the same; Labor, labor for their patnms, Labor though It be in pain. Yon rtust have your paper always. When the day or hour comes, And they toil and drive to suit you, While you still withold these sums Now, my friends, plain before Duty tells you whetc to go; Seek the printer in his office, Pay him every cent you owe. Ho will thank you truly, kindly, And in turn will pay Ins dues: For tho priutei is but oaii't always livo on news.

Upon our retiring tho STAKDARO again passes into the hands of II. B. ROWINGS, as Publisher and Piopriotor. Mr. R.

has lately added over two thousand dollars in printing material to tho establishment, including a Taylor Power Cylinder Press, the best Press in use, and'a number of new fonts' of card, circular and job type of the most modern styles, which will enable him to make many improvements in the paper, as well as to do all kinds of job-work as well as it can be done in the cities. With the (improvements added, the STANDARD Office ranks among tho first Printing "Establishments of the State, and, we trust Mr. ROWLSOK will receive a support that shall amply repay him for the outlay made, and which his public enterprise richly deserves. NAMELESS" 3d I-myas--The Reading boys in going to bnt, manifested clearly realization of "The stern joy that warriors feel, In foe-men worthy of their steel." They went to work like men, and by the dint of great energy, succeeded in making one score before the close of the innings. Tbe Lively Sfinils went to tho bat on the 3d innings with increased confidence, and added uino to their score. On the fourth for the Reading club, they commenced then with a determination that meant business, and closed the innings with an addition of three to their score. The Snails went to the bat on their fourth and adding twenty to their score, made the game a foregone conclusion in their furor; tbe game standing tliirty-firo to fire.

From this innings to the close of the game, there waa marked improvement in the playing of the Reading club, and had it not been for tho great odds obtained in tho fint four innings, the result of the tcamo would have and from this ills expected, llmt will play a to better 'settle the question of superiority.
