convention at rankfort an announcement to day stated 'Claude Snorton a student in the eleventh grade won first place in the speaking contest with 905 points out of a possible 1000 Snorton will speak in the regional contest to oe neia in June at Tennessee A and I State University competing with boys from six other states for a chance at the National Contests in Atlanta Snorton was also elect ed to deputy marshal to begin a 15 month prison term for income tax evasion a terrible thing to happen to a guy who deserve the former major league club owner remarked Saigh surrendered to Deputy Marshal Less Davison in a down town office building They left immediately for Terre Haute Ind federal penitentiary Saigh appeared visibly affected as he walked out of the building to face photographers But he smiled at the photographers and said: your fun boys for the last District Judge Roy Harper sentenced Saigh to the prison term and fined him $15000 Jan 28 after a plea of no contest to two counts of an indictment charging evasion of $19099 in taxes on his 1947 earnings and the 1949 income of himself and his wife The fine was paid last riday Saigh after the sentence was handed down sold the baseball
