(Associated Press.) Harvard opened Its football season today by defeating Eensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 18 to 6. For the first time other than in the annual Harvard-Yale, classic the Crimson team appeared on the field wearing numbers. Rain fell constantly throughout the game making the ball hard to handle and the gridiron a lake of mud. F.scholtz Goes Over. Miller, Harvard's fast heavyweight halfback, scored two of the CrimBon's three touchdowns and Stafford was responsible for the other.

AH were in the first half of the game. Hong runs by Crosby, Cheek and Stafford paved the way in each case. In the third period Jtensselaer reached the Harvard 15 yard line on a penalty for tripping and two short forward passes enabled Captain EscholtB to score.
