In a thirteen Inning struggle of the baseball titans today, the Chicago Cubs gained a 6 to 3 triumph over Brooklyn's league leading Robins to cut their margin to two games.

Dazzy Vance, appearing in the unaccustomed role of relief pitcher, was the victim of Chicago's final three run rally. The Cubs took an early three run lead off Ray Phelps, two of the tallies comlns in the third when an- nett's' Texas Leaguer along the right field foul line got away for a triple. Phelps started Brooklyn off with a home run in the fifth. Teachout was driven from the mound in the eighth after Finn's homer, Herman's triple and Bressler's single had tied the score. Bush pitched fine relief ball, al-'- lowing only three hits in the last 5 2-3 innings.

Vance appeared in the ninth, relieving Dudley, and did well until the thirteenth. With one out, Blair scratched a single, English' line drive through the box caromed off second base for a hit and Cuyler bounced a line drive off Hendrick's glove for a third hit which brought in the deciding run. Stephenson made the fourth single which brought English and Cuyler home. Score: i CHICAGO.
