PARADISE J-R.WiaiAM5 S-2Z-iS Redlands Daily Facts 8-Saturday, May 22, 1965 SHOW BEAT By DICK KLEINER Hollywood Correspondent Newspaper Enterprise Assn. HOLLYWOOD (Nea) — Things were busy over at the "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" set. They always are — if they don't get the picture finished quickly the next one may catch up to them. "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" IS the latest in the string of "Beach Party" pictures, featur ing kids and dancing and singing and just enough plot to tie the elements together loosely. I watched as Mickey Rooney, playing a hot-shot advertising executive, did a musical number with Harvey Lembeck, as Eric Von Zipper, and his gang. It went fast; they don't have time for too many retakes. The next "Beach Party" picture, "Sgt. Deadhead," is warming up in the bullpen. Guy Hemric, who writes the music with Jerry Styner, told me they turned out the songs for "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" in two weeks — and there are 13 songs. He says the rush is occasioned by the fact that the script is never ready until a few weeks before shooting begins. He doesn't like to write his son, until he sees the finished script. Hermic, until two years ago a publicity man for Max Factor, and Styner, who still works as an electronics engineer, want eventually to do a Broadway musical. And they feel that, for the first time, they are showing their versatility in "Wild Bikini." Before this, most of the songs they wrote were rock- and-roll. "But we've even got a waltz in this one," Hermic said. Read Classified Ads CLASSIFIED RATES Minimum 2 tines, 5 average words to tile line. 32 letters and spaces.
